I'm going to replace my slippy clutch with Raz's help tomorrow and have a few questions. I also want to replace my rear main seal.

Does anyone have a fine splined clutch alignment tool I could borrow ?

What tools do I need to remove and replace that main seal ? Do I need to remove the rear seal housing in order to do that or can I leave it in place ?

Does anyone have any of the tools needed for doing that rear main seal ? If so, could I please borrow them for a few days ?

Any other advice/tips for doing this job would be most appreciated. I've never done a clutch job before so I'm a bit unsure as to what to expect or what to have on hand when doing this job.

I guess I might as well replace the oil in my M46 tranny while I have it out. What type of fluid should I use in it ? RedLine ? Where can I get it ?

Roj

Thanks,

Roj

Redline MTL...get it at Mopac...

No other suggestions...I hate pulling trannies.

You'll need about 5 feet of extensions and a u-joint to get at the top two bellhousing bolts unless you're lucky and have one the right length to go through the shifter opening...

What about the rear main seal ? What do I use for extracting the old seal and pressing in the new one ?

Anyone got any tools for doing that ?

Can I leave the seal housing in place or do I need to have a gasket for it on hand ?

How long of an extension do you need for going after the top two tranny bolts via the shifter opening ?

TIA

Roj

you can go to canadian tire and borrow a clutch alignment tool, pay the deposit and get the money back when you take the part back.
or just use a broom handle.
