what the thing should look like bottomed out on bump stops

Image

the desired ride height.

I've got 2.5" of travel up within the desired range and 3" to the bump stops, and about the same down.

figured out the final arrangement for the rear upper links that will give me a 69% static AS and a 0% AS at full bump and around 120% at droop (Trying to figure out what that means, if i get on the gas out of a corner where it's bumpy, does that mean it plants the tires and goes?)

trying to figure out if i need two upper links or not, or if that one satisfactorily large (1.75 x .120 wall) will do.

The u joints are still not in yet, so i can't mill the flats, but this is the general idea, the steering tube is seamless, so this fits snugly into the ID (About .550" and then will be beveled and welded around the edges, and the 3/4" side will be milled for the 3/4" DD couplers i picked up.

and dusted on a bit of guide coat on any area that was sanded near metal. and then zip-tied in the grilles because it seemed like a good idea.

i'm really thinking that despite my first reservations, the chrome hood pins and safety wire might actually look decent coming out of this thing.

yay or nay?

next project: Take possession of the new place, clean it up, do some landscaping, and then think about building a garage (26x30 package here is only ~~$5400, and concrete is only 190/yd, so i could get in fairly cheap!)

Heck, when I was working just along the border w. Manitoba, you could get two and a half houses, or a quarter-section of land fer that.

Oh, and I have some friends in Winnipeg; if you don't mind, just flick your porch lights a couple of times in the evening to say "Hi" to them for me.

But seriously, you are out there already? I'm glad you like it. I made some good friends out there. Check-out the bar in Antler (just south of Hwy 1, just west of the border) if you get a chance. I think Steak Night is Saturday.

Been out here for a couple days now, got exactly what I wanted work-wise (I'm gonna be underground until the end of august or later to meet all the crews and try every role so I don't do anything silly when I get to project management or planning). People here are super friendly, drinks are cheap and I've even spotted another 740 in town!

We are waay off topic here, but when you mentioned how friendly everyone is, I wondered what the mix is - mostly 'locals' or....?

Nice bar in Antler, eh Dale?

I haven't been to Antler for 40 years so I was a little young to be in the bar. I just know I have a cousin that lives there. Sells big steel buildings...
