So I've been told that I couldn't use Virgo wheels on my 940 because of issues with clearing the brakes. Would it be theoretically possible to use Virgos on a 940 if one used some 1" spacers/adaptors to move the wheels out a little further ?

Also, what is the size/diameter (in mm) of the stock anti-sway bars on a '94 940 Turbo ? IPD upgrade sway bars are 25mm front and back.

How different are they in shape size from the 240 anti-sway bars ? I can get some 25 mm 240 sway bars fairly cheaply, as a matter of fact I have a spare set of 25 mm front sway bars from a 240 just sitting in my garage doing nothing and I'm sure I could get some rear ones of that size as well. I'm just curious to know if it'd be possible to have a fabrication shop modify them to fit a 940 by doing a bit of cutting and welding/splicing/bending or whatever. Anybody know ?

Thanks

Roj

well theorectically you could mod any sway bar to anything, but would it be worth it to alter the strength of the metal for this purpose?

not sure on stock size 940 turbo...i would guess 21mm though

not sure aobut virgos on the 900 either, even with spacing...that's something when you get the car you would have to check, unless Darthal knows?

ciao

10mm spacers on the front would probably do it. rears clear. you'll still need to drill the wheels for the abs pin on the brakes. at least i think that's what it is...easiest, and best looking, is to get some proper 700/900 wheels. sell the virgos to finance.

Yes, the pins are removeable, but i'm not sure if they're just for alignment or what.

THeres a set of dracos on tbricks for $150 at the moment.

the pins don't do anything imho, i've seen volvos with them, and volvos without them. I guess it just makes it easier to align the wheel when you take it on and off?

As for the wheels, t'is no matter. I bought a set of nice used 16" 940 Turbo rims on eBay. They're being shipped to Washington where my car awaits me. Will put new tires on 'em and put 'em on the car for the trip up. The rims that're now on that car will become my winter rims.

Still curious about the 240 - 940 sway bar conversion idea. Does anyone know just how different the 740/940 sways are in shape/design from the 240s ?

It would be nice if all you had to do was bend the 240 sways a bit differently to make them fit on a 940. That might be worthwhile doing.

I know a 240 rear sway is not even close to a 700/900 about 3+ inches too narrow. You are asking for troubles modifying sway bars, yes it can be done but in my opinion it is not worth all the troubles
