Hi - I seem to be short one of the rubber trim pieces for a mirror. The mirrors are the ones which are trapezoidal - 4-sided, with one side shorter than the other. Anybody got one? I've also got Olaf looking, but he is on holidays.

I've made them out of tire tube - works like a charm.

Hi,

John gave me one of those, but it didn't fit, and I couldn't cut it to make it fit (too small). Wellllll, I guess if other people are using them, I can "farmer" one too. I've never had a car with that metal bit on there. How does that work? I can't imagine placing the metal right on the paint, so is there a paper gasket underneath, and then the rubber on-top?

Doesn't the metal piece go on the inside of the door panel?

Oh, reeeaally?? I never thought of that. There is at least one old car out at John's that has the metal piece on the outside, but that makes a whole lot of sense. Hahahahahah. It really doesn't look right.

That might also explain why when I had a look at it, the size is different too.

Both mirrors are on now, one with the proper rubber, one with the farmer-ed job - I'm not sure I'm willing to take them off - what a pain!!! I noticed with the first one that the door was deformed slightly by the bolts on the inside, the second one I laid-off tightening it so-much. I've had several 122 mirrors off and on again, and never have I seen such a thang....
