So...Craig needed a bunch of tires and wheels so I loaded up the 740 and took 'em down. In return...

In the first 2 shots you see the contrast of the first stage of polish (4 stages were done) to no polish.

An unpolished side shot. Looks not bad from this angle but notice how closely the color of the body and the bumper cover is at this point.

First stage...using the wool pad...

Need to repaint the mirrors...

Stage 1 complete. A vast improvement...

On to stage 2...using a foam pad.

Now I need to pull off the rear spoiler and body kit (and mirrors) and paint them to match. We tried polishing the bumpers but whatever they're painted with refused to buff up...

Thanks to Craig for displaying yet another of his many talents and the generosity of spending the better part of a Saturday polishing up the old girl...

What a wild man with that rotary. Do you ever buff with a flat pad?

Oh, nice work... again.

Jim - go look at your 740 collection...nothing but angles. I was trying in some areas to not burn through or cause other damage.

BTDT. Yeah you're always on the edge of burning an edge on those cars, it's why I love my 4" pads. Takes a bit longer but quicker in some respects.

Tell me about it...I'm actually thinking about a new Makita polisher for my next tool purchase.

gahhh, don't say that! When my CT POS died after minimal use  I noticed you using your PA unit in some pics, I figured if it was good enough for you and they went on sale I bought one this spring. #-o If you're looking to upgrade the hardcore detailers seem to really like the Metabo although the Makita gets high marks as well. If money were no object I would have got the Metabo, the PA unit is fine just HEAVY.

I'm not saying I'm doing it right away - but by the time I paint the 122 I want it gone. The angle drive is pretty coarse and is now making a lot of noise. It gets very hot in operation and I suspect is made with all the usual care and attention to detail offered by PA  .
