I believe this thread has officially been jacked.

I lived in Australia for years, and I think the same thing (but in reverse) is true: because it can be dangerously HOT there, people tend to be more helpful, less self-centered, and ...sensible.

One side-effect of the heat however, is that your beer heats-up faster, so they don't seem to take as much time to drink them. I never saw much whiskey there either.

Back to your regularly-scheduled program??

Man it sucks not having a car in this weather!

Paul said I'd be lucky to get it back tomorrow :( He opted to send a core out for re-coring as the original all copper units are alot better than the plastic/alum aftermarket replacements, so that's good.

Let me know if I can come down and help button it up tomorrow night Paul- a whole week without wheels is painful!

Seriously? I've got some of the dash apart. Need to read the 24 pages of instructions I printed up to see where to go next. Hopefully I have the new one in by the end of the weekend...

Well...the old one is out and the new core is in. Took some minor modifications to get the new core in. Nothing that a die grinder didn't fix in about 30 seconds. Re-assembly will start tomorrow. Some kind of job though. The dash/console is in about a million pieces. I can only hope I remember where everything goes when I put it back together... [-o<

Kind of what I was afraid of trying to take that job on- I'm pretty sure it's James who says its pretty much impossible to get those dashes back together without introducing new squeaks and rattles.

Paul hadn't started on the car Friday afternoon, but said it would be done Monday. If I wasn't feeling so rotten, I'd probably have taken it home and tried- it sucks not having a car when it's this cold!

It'll be done Monday and was parked in the shop over the weekend so the trim should come off fairly easy without breakage.

=D> Thanks Paul. See, I wouldn't even have thought of letting it sit somewhere warm before tackling plastic.
