Hey Guys,

Might be a silly question, but i'm trying to change out the shoes in the rear of my PV.

The new ones i got fit alright, but i can't for the life of me keep the springs on the little tabs on the shoes. Any idea how to bend them out a bit further? (Can't seem to do it with vice grips or anything)

Tabs? Should be going into holes on the shoes, no?

Nah, the springs are a round end with a hook on the other, the hook goes around a pin just on top the wheel cylinder, while the holes hook onto the tabs on the shoes themselves.

There are other holes in the shoe that could be used with different length springs.

I presume these are the brakes?

Don't the spring ends go through the shoe, not just hook on the tabs?

With the picture being your set up are you able to post a picture of your springs and the tabs?

I am not familiar with the Volvo drum brakes but that picture could be a generic one of many drum brakes. On the drum brakes that I am familar with the return springs are hooked over the top anchor point and the opposite end of the spring has a smaller hook that goes through an opening on the flat part of the shoe.

Blowing up the picture does show that the spring mount on the shoe is different than a simple hook but I can't get enough detail out of it to be sure how the spring mounts.
