Hey all! i have recently acquired 2 242 turbo's one is a 80 intercooled. the other is a 83 non intercooled. most of my time and focus will go in the 83 because it is a better choice. so far i have worked on swapping over all of the intercooler parts from the 80 and am working on a full EFI conversion for my higher boost plans! well thats all for now and will get some pictures up in a few

Welcome, Jordan.

So what are the plans for them both? Combine to make one good one, winter/summer, what? Are you sure the '80 is an '80, or was it actually not a turbo to begin with?

The '80 has the wrong tail lights to be an '80. The front end swap (GT grill, fog lights and 7" rounds) isn't terribly difficult but the tail lights don't fit very well on an early car, do they? I suspect it's an original intercooled '84. Should have an "Intercooler" badge where the "Volvo" badge is on the trunk...

the 80 is actually a 83 i think with a 80 gt front end, but my plan is to make just one good one for a nice summer ride

Looks like the pair that were on Kijiji a while ago, in Edmonton I think? Glad you picked them up, and best wishes on a fun project!

Thank you everyone for the kind words of encouragement!

and yes these are the pair off kijiji. i used to work with the guy that was selling them so i got a pretty good deal and lots of extra knowledge about the cars.
as for progress it is going to get kinda slow because i am still in school and winter is coming  i am praying to have the EFI swap at least started this weekend.

Welcome - looks like you've got quite the little project brewing. What EFI system are you planning on using?

I am going to be running a full megasquirt system when i get a little bit of extra money but the intake mani is from a newer 740 i believe. the EFI parts came with the car so i am still trying to do a little bit a research on the parts and the swap its self!

Your best source for research is this group...everyone (pretty much) except me has done MS at one time or other. I'm working (not very hard mind you) at doing the conversion to my 122.

haven't updated for awhile but lots of progress has been made, my megasquirt came in and is going to be put together very soon! my main priority at the moment is just to get the car running, after that all the little things to get it on the road!
