I have just discovered what is, in my opinion, the greatest website of all time:

http://www.boltdepot.com/Default.aspx

Lots of metric, zinc plated, stainless or chrome, and 8.8 and 12.9. I've been hoping something like this existed for a while, and there it is! Problem is, they don't ship to Canada. And driving to the border to pick up a bag of bolts is silly. With the lack of metric bolt selection in this town, I was really hoping this would be it. But it isn't.

Sooo, does ANYONE know of a good online bolt supplier that ships to Canada, and doesn't just sell bulk? (besides Coburn's garage of course!)

Doesn't McMaster Carr ship to Canada? We put in a big order recently and while we had it shipped to a US address, I seem to recall an option to ship to Canada. In terms of prices, you can't beat them, and they carry all sorts of oddball fasteners. Quantities aren't huge...100 pcs for smaller stuff and down to 25 pcs for bigger stuff. Why not get two or three guys together and put in a big order that would make it worthwhile to make a trip to Sweet Grass? Seems to me our order was in the $450 range and we figured it would be close to $1000 at Bolt Supply in town...

McMaster-Carr accepts no new accounts or customers outside of the US.

I set up four companies with them and when I finally had to setup my own company account was given the cold shoulder. Business must be good for them to refuse new customers. They will continue to ship to existing non-US customers though. For now, I have to place my orders through one of my customers.

So I checked McMaster out, and it looks good! The selection is excellent...zinc plated....some titanium....even military grade stuff, and while you do have to order quantities for certain bolts, the prices don't seem bad even for that. And, it looks like they ship to Canada. I've set up an account. So unless they refuse to ship to me for some reason, it looks like I'm good to go. Thanks Dale!

Let us know how it turns out. I went through that last year. Everything looks fine and then you get an e-mail saying they refuse to ship to any new accounts outside the US. It would be great to hear they changed that policy.

Wow...that's really weird. I'll be surprised if this works out for me then, but I'll give it a shot. Not sure when I'll place an order, but hopefully soon.

Someone suggested that I try Misumi USA (I think it may have been McMaster-Carr when I called them to discuss their refusal of my order). Their stuff if mostly metric and their site is not as easy to use as McMaster-Carr but they have some interesting goodies in there.

I don't even need bolts right now, and this thread pisses me off.

I know what you mean Matt. The worst part is you can't even use forwarding services with McMaster-Carr once they know you are in Canada.

I just remembered: Spae-Naur -- they're in Canada. I think they may have a minimum order but lots of fasteners there (and odd vintage car special bits and pieces). Their catalog is not as easy to navigate though. I use to use these guys a lot before I found McMaster-Carr.

Awesome! Thanks for those two suggestions RT. I'll check them both out a little more.

How did it turn out with McmasterCarr? I know I ordered from them about 3-4 years ago.

Are you sure it's not just accounts? I know it's tough for American Co's to collect bad debts here, so not unusual at all to not do net-30 billing, but visa?

Still haven't placed an order....been sidetracked as of late. And I've found most of what I need locally. I think when I do more suspension and brake work I'll try to place one.

I've had it confirmed by folks at work that it's only certain products that McMaster Carr won't ship to Canada. The flanged headed bolts are on the list. You can get aluminum extrusions and some other parts - I can confirm that there is no "list" of what they will and won't ship. It's a crap shoot. Place your order and see what arrives. This is the approach that the University people are taking. I think it's madness.
