With a fresh 240 at our JY, I'm doing some planning for parts I need to pull for my 122 build. I'll likely miss something, so I thought I'd get everyone's input. Remember, we're going EFI here and need affiliated parts, some things are just there because I like the way they work on the 240.

List:

- Relay and wiring for courtesy light (because timed courtesy lights are cool).
- Grommets (what ever I can lay my hands on - way better than aftermarket stuff that crumbles).
- Trunk and Hood lights.
- Charcoal canister and fittings.
- Maybe steering column

I think the dome light has the delay mechanism built in, but I may be off base here. Pull it first and if it's got a capacitor on board, you're golden. I seem to recall changing this on my '77 for the one out of the '84 Turbo donor car, and the dome light had the delay... That was many cars ago, though. I'm not sure about the trunk light either, it mounts flush in a 240 I think so you'll have to bury it in the cardboard panel, or something. Two hood lights might be better. The steering column has those breakaway bolt heads holding it to the bracket, make sure you bring your drills (I'm sure you know this, so this is just a reminder).

Transmission tunnel, for the shifter? Main pump & filter assembly (unless it's a K-jet car, in which case grab the camshaft)? Chop out the heater control valve for some crazy reason? Seatbelts? Otherwise I'm out of ideas.

Hmmm, I didn't know about the dome light - I thought it worked on a timed relay. Worth a look see. The tunnel, fuel pump/filter, seat belts I have. I may pull some of the main wiring harness and engine harness to augment my pile of wire. While I'm rewiring the car using a kit and it'll have wire, I would like the option.

Just wondering how crazy the steering column ideal really is...I could always do a racing part, but I can't keep what's there for two reasons. 1. I won't have the steering box, so I will need to add a shaft and u-joint down to the rack servo. 2. Solid shafts tend to skewer you in an accident. Safe is better than shish kabob. I figure it's there. I would like to adapt the turn signal and cover, but wouldn't mind a turn signal that worked constantly either.

In the sphere of crazy your car occupies, I'd say the steering shaft is near the edge, as in it's not a bad idea at all.

I need to get out and pick up a fuel tank & pump/sender assembly for myself. Not so many 240s anymore in the JY, best to have one before I need one.

Bear in mind I have a lot of stuff in my garage too. I have tons of wiring. I've got a charcoal canister. I've got a sender assembly, and one or two pumps. I've got a bunch of interior lights, though I don't think they have a delay. And I've got two spare engine bay/trunk lights. I got rid of my spare fuel tank Matt. I did pull the camshaft in the car here in our JY, but didn't take it. Its just sitting in the back seat unless Jim took it.

Thanks Jim -- no time this weekend to get some of this stuff pulled. May make it next weekend, or the week after. I would like to get a look at the parts and see how they will all integrate.
