Hi all,

What's the best/cheapest way I can get a moderate performance clutch and pressure plate for a flat flywheel b230 with M46? From within Canada preferably.

I'm temporarily throwing in the towel on my world class T5 swap into the 940 and I will return to the project when my frustration levels have subsided.

Thanks,
-Sol

How much power do you plan on making?

Maybe I've been lucky but when I did the clutch on my 244 in 2001 it survived all this time and broke one M46 (12psi, third gear pulling a fair sized trailer).

It was just a sachs replacement clutch and PP on a flat flywheel.

Its life in the last 5 years has been easy but the first 5 years would of been torture.

Well, the car is making enough power that the brand new sachs clutch and pressure plate that I had with the dog-dish flywheel was slipping every time I put the pedal to the floor...

So somewhere above the 220ft-lb mark?

I'm almost sure you have a problem somewhere else.

Is it cable or hydraulic operated clutch?

I personally had a problem on a 240 where the fork attached inside the bellhousing (it was loose about to fall apart).

Ive also heard of bent forks.. not sure if I believe it though.

Was your flywheel resurfaced? You received the right part numbers?

I once installed the throwout bearing backwards.. I remember having to pull the trans right after getting it together.

I wouldnt be ordering a new clutch at only 220 ft lbs.. I think I dyno'd that in Calagry in 2006 and still have the same clutch with more boost.

Just dont want to see you spending unnecessary money on m46 stuff. I may be wrong but countless tire shredding clutch drops in my younger days makes me have faith in factory replacement clutches. The rear had been welded for the last 5 years (not driven much though) but it's not like I'm only spinning one small tire, always 2 225/45s.
