Hello Everyone,

Its been awhile...

The last post I had on here was looking for a winter vehicle (AWD), for a family member, and the input I received on the early model XC70 was great.

I thought I had my winter vehicle all sorted out (I had bought a 98 Volvo V70R Auto AWD), but I recently came across a vehicle that peaked my interest (2006 Volvo V50T5 AWD 6spd).

So as the title suggests, will I be better off with something newer, i.e. 2006, or should I stick with what I know, 1998 Volvo V70, is very similar to the 96 Volvo 850 I had a few years back...

The stick shift in the V50 has really peaked my attention, as I will say that I am really missing that at the moment...

Input on the V50 is what I am looking for, as I already know what I have with the 98 V70R

I can't speed directly to the V50, but something to check would be what version of Haldex it has, and if there was a similar upgrade to the collar sleeve between the bevel and the final drive...

My 06VR feels an entire generation newer than my 00VR, making the 00R feel quite old in comparison. That said I still love the car, as does my family. :)

Total aside - but how has your Jag ownership experience been? Stunning cars...

Thanks Rabin for the info... I will look into the details of the AWD system that is in a 2006 V50...

And as for your total side note... I have absolutely loved my Jaguar. I owned the 2012 Jaguar XFR for 3 years and ~50,000kms, 100% trouble free, and liked it so much that I ended up upgrading to a 2015 XFR-S about a 1 year ago, and again zero issues. The 2012 had its fair share of aftermarket go fast bits, and it was truly a blast, the new one is in a league of its own. And nothing aftermarket has been added, or is anticipated to be added anytime soon.
