I was following the DeLorean crowd with their many attempts to make their PRV
do better things.

One thing they mentionned was HEI (High Energy Ignition). Bigger coil,
resistors, wide spark gap,

Is this avenue of thought applicable to B280F/LH2.2/EK115(1990)

On that train, is there a distributor less system for B280F like the one
for B230FT (LH2.4) "Wasted Spark conversion". Of better yet, programable
computer control direct ignition off a hall effect trigger in the distributor.

The later Eagle Premiers had a distributorless ignition, but the fuel injection systems are completely different (you don't want the Eagle stuff).

I wouldn't worry about ignition - that's not holding anything back, I'm pretty certain.

In fact, the B280F has a pretty advanced system for the day. Two knock sensors, and the ignition system has the ability to adjust each cylinder's timing as required. There's a sensor on the #1 spark plug wire that feeds back to the computer so that it knows which cylinder is firing, in spite of the need for a distributor. It does lack the circuitry to switch power on 3 or 6 coils, though. It may lack a bit of punch compared to a distributorless system but the gains wouldn't outweigh the trouble. Keep it in good shape and all will be well.

Just more moving / consumable parts: cap and rotor.

I shouldn't complain. These 780s won't see more than 3K km in a year.
