Some of you heard about my 86 745ti basket case. This was going to be my winter beater since the 744 was to nice for my tastes.

Anyway, I fixed the exhaust, welded in patch pannels for the floor, replaced the headlight, new check valve and fuel filter and threw on my virgos with nokians in high hopes.

Alas, this one didn't make it. They felt the frame was too thin, failed the windsheild (expected), leaky rack and a couple other things.

I guess the inspections are more picky then I originally thought!

Anyway, I was pretty proud of it after I washed it all up! Now it's nothing but a parts car. I did get some learning experience out of it though!

So you're going to part it out? Seems to nice for that. I just love provincial inspections - with all the junk on the roads, why not test them all.

This one was from edmonton..

Looks better in pictures then it actually is, it really is a beater car. There has been alot of bodywork done (evidence of bondo everywhere).

The motor also has a serious knock to it, sounds more bottom end-ish. I was going to put my 244s motor in this wagon if it passed safety... not happening now!

I'm on the hunt for either a 89 745TI or V90 (dark colors only). If anyone knows of one please let me know! This 86 will serve as a nice parts car for a 89. The interior is VERY nice!

That sucks. Vehicle inspections are stupid. Glad we don't have em. Makes parking by commando bumper against some of the utter garbage on the roads in northern WA pretty fun.

Sounds like you need another beater 242...bwahahaha.

I think I know what would be the result.. I was under there welding for awhile then I undercoated some of it. Pretty sure it was bit thin in some places :o

How much would it cost me to liscense 8 cars at age 22 in Alberta? Better yet.. where would I put them if I moved to the city? Also.. if you can find me a place to rent (like what I have) for $500 including utilities then I might consider moving. Otherise I'm just forced to travel there now and then :D

Vik you know I'd like to be closer to you guys, but sometimes I have to be positive about ole Saskatchewan!

Ya.. we only have to do inspections when you buy a car out of country or province. You can buy a car rusted through and through locally and throw plates on it... makes you wonder sometimes.

Another beater 242 would be sweet! I still have the old one.. and what a champ it was/is. I just tossed the Nokians on the 244, might pull the bodykit and the rear sway soon. I've been biking to work all winter (2 blocks away) so I really only need my car once or twice a week, car wash is across the street and I can park inside. I think it'll be ok.

What are you going to do with the car now? Part it out? If you do, I may need some crap...

Sell it back to someone in Alberta? It looks way nicer than our 760 wagon...

shitty deal about that geoff, worst case scenario is if you're picking up another car out here, bring it back, i'm sure it'll sell. at least you got a T5 out of the deal.
