unfortunately I only need the short block at the moment. I might go see what pick and pull has this afternoon. Otherwise tomorrow morning my car is getting a b21ft bottom end.

Man, seems like alot of work to put a low compression 2.1 liter in there, but at least you'll be able to throw a TON of boost at it (if your fuel system can handle it!).

Paul, I'm parting out my 242, but my main problem is dealing with the motor, which is half the value of the car, but the hardest to sell. That's why i'm considering finding a newer 2 or 7 series with a bad motor and swapping. If you know anyone that needs a solid B23ET (all forged internals, 9.1:1 CR, etc etc) let me know!

PnP has a newer 240 (86+) and a couple of 740GLE. Nothing special about any of them. All B230F. There is also an older 240 with a B21A...

can you buy one of the cars from the yard without it having a salvage title? the idea would be to swap in my motor, clean it up, and generally have it in sellable condition. a 740T might be easier/better even.

Put out a wanted ad perhaps?

as far as all the work that goes into putting in a low comp 2.1, its kinda the reason we drive these cars.

ill just get some cfis, or just borrow raz's WBO2 and get it up to say 15 - 18psi

fun will be had, in the meantime I will look for a 90+ b230f with 13mm rods as a replacement.

whats your budget for a new block? maybe we can work something out and I'll save you having to replace the head and all that crap and just drop in a complete engine.
Course if you're just keeping an eye at pyp you probably won't have to wait long and that's definitely the best deal...

prices are in my f/s thread. the 2.2 stuff obviously isn't worth much, although it took a bit of work to get everything to fit with all the different parts.

Yeah I definitely dont have 750 kicking around, Im very interested, but of course theres an obvious reason im doing a FT for now.

I would love to buy your motor tho :) forged internals would be a good idea.

Hey if you don't think it's a fair price, just say so. I can tell you that's less than half what I put in (with alot of help). It's a very strong block, with a very good head, and has demonstrated to be very efficient at making power and running well on all grades of gas.

As I said, I'm open to working something out.

Payment plans...that is a very fair price for getting it done right. If I can pass along something I've spent 20 odd years figuring out - do it right once. Doing it cheap takes more time and ends up costing more. Your time is worth something and it only hurts when you pay...not every time you look at it. This engine would cost $2K to put together...think about it (and I know your situation...I was in post secondary for 13 years - talk to me about school pain).

Oh, by the way, the front speaker map pocket mods look great! I still think the chalkboard painted hood (as long as it is adorned with nonsense) is cool...I could never pull that off - I'm not that cool.

just wait untill me and my artist buddies get a hold of it 8)

Unfortunately Craig I do like to learn the hard way. The plan for this car never was to do it right, it was to make mistakes and learn how to do it right next time. Im a hands on learning type.

Im learning so my 242 will be nice :)
