you weren't on the email list when this "discussion" took place about automatic gearboxes...so this thread doesnt mean as much to you as everyone else...

but i will say...there is A LOT more to controlling a car than gear secltion

(by the way at work i have to drive customers maunal tranny'd cars...{more than just pulling in and out of bays} and i am getting a lot better, no stalls ever now...i think if i had to do it with a car i owned i would be fine after a day...and be able to race in a track setting in a week or so!)

Agreed. However, I still think it's a good part of it. The automatic transmission will downshift/upshift regardless of the situation. Which isn't always good.

But also, manual shifting is part of the fun of driving!
