This is my 98 V70 AWD TSD(time, speed, distance) rally car. If it werent so damn expensive to get parts for this thing, i'd prep it for either Production GT, or Open class. This thing slides very nicely o n gravel it turns out ;)

Im looking into a Group 2 Golf right now, but eventually, I'd like to build an open class volvo, either an S40, or an 850 AWD, but it'll cost alot, but I still wanna do it!

This is what happens when you overcook a corner....

No damage to the suspension though!

Yeah, the limited slip is starting to make some strange noises....
But it still works! And I've run 2 events, volunteered at 4 pro events all on the same stock suspension! Engine mount and ctrl arm bushings are starting to go, but im amazed at how tough this thing is!

Well, at the last event, we came in Second overall!! By only 9 seconds too. I missed 2 corners, and we had to make up a LOT of lost time. Im pretty sure that If I didnt miss those corners, we would have won it!
I really ought to stop rallying my V70 though, as it still is my DD, and I'm investing in a Proper Group 2 Golf.
I'd love to race a volvo, but they're really heavy, and expensive to keep repairing.

That is unless, i get some sort of major sponsor to get me the parts I need for cheap!

As long as you're going FWD and new the above statement is true...I drive a Volvo that is only 10 times heavier than me (2500 lbs) .

This is cool, very cool infact. Nice to see someone getting out there and getting into the sport. Theres lots of people who rally their cars on the subaru forums. We used to have another member with a 242 but he has since sold it and moved on.

That 242 would have been Houston Peschl's 83' Saw the ad on specialstage.com classifieds, but It was sold before I got a chance. I used to run a 240 turbo at the race city drift meets, so this would have been a nice car for me to rally!

IIRC Houston's was a 244

mine was the 242 GT used in a few TSD rally's in Alberta

The V70, is no more :( the AWD train just gave up on me last week. Far as I could tell, its the bevel gear, AND the VC. I'm going to pull the Driveshaft, and just have a FWD car for the rest of the winter. I'm still racing though! Not a volvo, but a Rear drive Toyota Corolla!

Yeah, I think I'm ready to ditch this car actually. I'm going to need a service/tow vehicle, and I don't think a V70 would be the best choice for that.

I really want to stop pouring my money into this thing, and start saving for a proper 4X4 truck
