 Post subject: 740 D24T back on road with diff wheels

Well, my grandson came over and we took the BBS five spokes off because of the two damaged ones and put
the 10 spoke Volvo rims on my 85 740GLR D24T. They have been painted black but the one original color
wheel looks better so I think I will be taking them all down to the original aluminum then get them clear
coated. I still hope I can get the BBS rims repaired but am not going to hold my breath. Need money!!!!!!
The car is a little twitchy so have to go underneath and see what damage has been done to suspension.
Hopefully not much. Might be able to transfer all damaged parts from parts car then a trip to the alignment
shop after new tires of course. Hopefully will be able to hit the highway again this summer. So Waldo2 is back
on the road although rather messy looking because of roads. All right! Pic included.

My grandson wanted to leave the BBS 5 spokes on the back and put 10 spokes on the front for that "dragster" look but I said "No body is going to believe a turbo-diesel dragster. So he lost out (for now at least).

Thanks Canuck, they look better than the originals but I really liked the 5 spoke BBS's that I got off Sol in Saskatoon. You can see them under the heading " I got my wheels" under Pics. My brother offered to walnut blast the flat-black paint off, back to the original aluminum and if you saw the one unpainted wheel on the other side, you might agree also. Aluminum wheels really suit the aluminum paint on the car. I hope to get an estimate on repairing the 2 BBS rims but one is actually cracked though still retaining air so maybe they can weld it but I imagine it's gonna cost a bundle.

If it's not too bad, it should be easy enough to repair. Most alloy wheel repair guys do a great job of welding them up and returning them to new.

Brother checked front end and three tie rod ends were loose and 4th not tight so bought all new ends. Now just waiting for him to put them on then down to alignment shop. Hopefully can afford new tires. Was thinking of putting studded winters on the 5 spoke BBS wheels for rear and all season on all 10 spokers. Just use BBSs for winter. Now I have a slight bleed-by in my master cylinder. Pedal sometimes sinks a little if stopped on a hill for a while but one pump and it's back up to full pedal again. Hopefully will be able to use master cylinder off my parts 740. We'll see. Brother says it's a bitch to bleed though.

Have to disagree with your plan of running winters in the rear only. If you can't afford to do all 4 then just run the all seasons year round and hope for the best in winter, at least you will have predictable handling with 4 of the same tire.
