19Sept2014 - I was turning left on a flashing green turn light when out of no where a bicyclist ran right into my front fender and bounced off the windshield with his head with no helmet. Said he was a tough old bird (65 but didn't look it at all) and built like a brick outhouse. I phoned police and they got ambulance to take him to hospital for tests but I had to talk him into it, he was just gonna go home with this big puncture wound in his head but he finally agreed. We just sorted it out ourselves and I don't think the police even gave him ticket for running a red light cause it was all kinda confusing. He's doing all right tho, just stitches and pills and one hour wake-ups in case of concussion. Shook me up but I think more from the 3 hours of processing than anything, boy, we had 4 cop cars, one fire rescue truck (the big one) and an ambulance. All those police and not one donut. Volvo did get damaged though. That guy must have been pure, hard muscle. As you can see in the pic, his head did the windshield but his body dented the fender in two places and bike handle scraped and slightly dented hood. Not sure what I'm gonna do here, whether to replace hood and fender from parts car or just straighten and a little bondo but definitely need windshield.

Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt, sucks about the damage though. lol at the number of cops et al, thought only Lethbridge did that sort of thing only to complain they're understaffed...

Yikes...I don't have a lot of sympathy for bikers who dont wear helmets but wow. I'm glad no one got hurt.

I think there were a few factors involved including bicycler driving into the sun with a ball cap on and severe traffic congestion. It's hard to see which traffic lights are on with sunglasses also going into sun. I'm just glad he was "a tough old bird" as he said.
