so while at PYP on sunday i saw and 86+ car with some bumpers that were pretty beat up, so i said to myself to keep looking and then come back if i don't find any better ones around

then BAM here is an older looking wagon, with newer bumpers..."hmm i say...this isn't right, we didn't...oh wait...no way!" i check the speedo and sure enough, it's a US Volvo with the SUUUUUUPER skinny rear bumper and nice looking front bumper...

anywhoo, the rear bumper shocks were welded to a trailer hitch which was in turn welded to the frame, so no dice there...but i did grab the rear bumper and the front bumper/non-turbo spoiler with shocks

here's what the front looks like...

had to use the old school trim as the new trim was no where to be found at the JY...i know it looks kinda saggy but it's an illusion when using the short trim/GT spoiler

i may attempt to put the rear on as well...just modify the existing mounting plates, or i'll wait for James to throw a couple in with the "Matt and Dale" package being held in the states

all i can say is that commando bumper is HELLA HEAVY!!! jeebus

what ya'll think?

ciao

Well, I'd say the upgrade looks pretty good! And you got the skinny for the back eh? I love how those look....still hoping to get a skinny for the back of mine. BTW....does anyone know what years the skinnies came on American 240's? I've heard its only a couple years in the early eighties.
Nice work Vik. The weight loss alone is a good reason to switch, but yep, it looks pretty nice too.

AFAIK 83-85 were the years the super skinnies came out...although i think all aussie car's 82 and up had these bumper's...and they never got the 86+, just the super skinny

the car already does feel more responsive, kinda like less understeer

Skinnies FTW

The turbo is still rocking commando trim as well.. but the bumpers alone make it look MUCH cleaner.

werd. i meant to weigh them (maybe i'll get a scale for xmas) but i bet there's at least 20 or 30 lbs difference between the bumpers, and that's waaaay out front and back.
