Do NOT ground the shield at both locations, only at the MS box. Otherwise you'll set up a ground loop, which is bad mkay?

Using a shielded wire for the negative terminal works, and it worked on both Dale's and my cars, but it does give you a dirty signal. Nothing much can be done about that - it's the nature of the beast. Much current "flys back" thru the low tension side of the coil, right back to your MS box.

If you used an EFI distributor, you'd have no choice but to control spark as well as fuel, and to do that you'd need an ignitor system, etc. Might be more than you want to get into right away... You could do EDIS, which I found to be easiest considering the tools and skills available to me. Dale's still got one B21/B23 EDIS adapter available, and all it would take is a trip to the JY to get the appropriate parts, and some welding skillz to make up a bracket to mount the VR sensor. Other than that, EDIS is near bulletproof, and will actually run without any input from MS (though the timing is locked at 10*BTDC, or wherever you put it).

Your call. Using the negative side of the coil works and works well. A whole other level of power and efficiency (and complication, unfortunately) is opened up with spark control - in the end, it's worth it.

awesome, thanks for all the info, i believe with my current knowledge(or lack of) of MS i will stick with the negative terminal set up. Then later if i want i can change it up I'll look into the EDIS. thanks again for the info, ill let you know how the install goes.
