I need some parts for my 70 1800E

Oil temp sensor (common to lots of models I hope).
Odo angle gear
Shift boot
beauty rings for my original black clover wheels.

I also have some powdercoated 740 wheels (10 spoke?) that have not been used since being redone. I had plans to use them on the 1800 but I am leaning towards the panasport? replicas now. For now the original clovers are doing just fine.

I will get some pics of the 10 spoke wheels up soon.

Eric

Oil temp sender??? Do you mean oil pressure sender? Oil pressure senders are cheap and plentiful as they are a stock VDO part used on many different cars (1/8 NPT thread and pressure rating of the gauge is what you need). You can get most of this stuff from Olof at Vintage Import Parts (http://www.vintageimportparts.com/).

Angle drives are a PITA and fragile but not uncommon and he's got shift boots up the wazoo.

Are you missing the trim rings or just want new ones? I believe they are stainless and will buff up nicely. These may be harder to find.

Craig

Thanks,

Yes Olof has a shift boot but It will set me back 50 bucks. I may go for something leather.

I mean oil temp sender. The oil pressure is working. The 1800e also has an oil temp gauge.

My rings are shiny but a little beat. Lots of dents.
Tough to find these.

I bought one of the boots years ago...you need it to seal up the cabin, it's not just for looks. So $50 isn't all that bad - maybe you could find one on eBay for less.

Where is the oil temp sender located? The one on my 242 is in the oil pan drain plug - it's a stock VDO sender that is used on many things in that temp range (printed on the side) and I believe it's a common VW part. Check what the gauge wants and cross it over to more common parts.

Trim rings are terrible - I bought a set of 15" stainless ones at Can Tire for my steel wheels ages ago. They were a little wide, but looked OK. Places like Wheel Vintiques have trim rings, but be ready to pay for them as well.

Shift Boot. Yes I agree I am back to looking at the rubber boot to seal the cabin. IPD has one for $16 and $30 shipping  .

Oil temp sensor: Located at bottom of oil pan. Not in the drain plug. I figured this part was common throughout 122s etc.

Pictures: I will get some up in the next week or so.

Never seen one on a 122 oil pan...and I've seen a few of them.
