Hi folks,

It's been years since I've been on your forum here. I haven't seen this posted yet and I'd like to know if anyone has any opinions or insight. It's a 1964 122 Canadian in Vulcan. I know that there's a guy in Vulcan occasionally selling old Volvos but I don't know him. I might go out and see the car this weekend.

RUN - RUN AWAY. I'd pay about $1000 for that car.

Not Kijiji and a little OT but there are more than a couple of members here that would buy this in a second I think...

I'd go take a look if I were down there.

I'm looking for some rear bilsteins for sure. Any other interesting stuff, if someone goes and takes a look

I'll admit, I have never seen one of these before... the VW diesel 240. From what I can find, it's legit!

1963 PV544, in Meacham SK.. looks like a spare engine comes in the trunk. I think it would be good for a rat rod-esque driver.

What else can you do when it's -40C out? Search the ads...

66 Volvo 123GT in northern AB... looks GT-ish from what the pictures show.

Except that it's really a '67, that's a pretty sweet car.

Edit - actually, a late '67 with the collapsible steering column, could even be a '68 though I'm not sure there were any Canadian '68s.

Re-Edit - I don't see a Canadian badge on the car, either on the trunk nor under the hood. I wonder if it was imported? Need to see a close-up of the fresh air duct. It's missing some of the classic "imported" things though, like the auxiliary wire harness and the hood/trunk lights. It doesn't look resprayed - the seams at the rear fenders by the trunk, no overspray on the trunk seal or the hood side bumpers, the seams by the LR fender all look original. It's not perfect but that's a super nice base to start from.

Triple Edit - I swear that badge picture wasn't there before. 133951 = Canadian version, and M means '67.

Good call on all points, Matt. I didn't look close enough at the pictures to determine the collapsible steering column.
And I agree with you on the chassis badge, I didn't see that earlier. The body looks pretty sharp, inner front fender edges, brake/clutch box and overall looks nice. If only I had the $$...

Edit: That left dash corner looks a bit odd, the way it is bent up.

Yeah, the dash is hooped, and there are surely other issues. Craig and I have been talking about it too. It's quite likely that the floors are rotted from leaking window seals, and the way the trunk mat is pulled up in the RF corner makes me think it's hiding something (most likely rust between inner & outer fenders). No pictures of the right side are suspicious to me as well. High price suggests he thinks he's either not hiding anything at all, or is hiding it well enough to get away with it. But all it takes is a good look to determine if it's really a pretty nice car.

Ad is gone for the 123GT??

On those 2, 240 diesels from before, they are rareish but come up off and on. Slower than sin, but I still have a thing for owning one...

As far as the Hyundai diesel powered 242, not sure what he's smoking??

Not quite a Kijiji thread, but from a friend of a friend of a friend.

"Heya All:

The bill of sale on this car was $58,000 in 1987. It belongs to the
mother-in-law of a friend of mine, Bob Hunt. The car is in Lethbridge
Alberta and has been stored in a dry warehouse under a car cover for 15
years. It has 77,000 kilometers on it and it was parked between two Saab
Aero's so I was unable to see the body extremely well. It has never been
in an accident and the areas that I could see were great. There are no
hood or windshield chips because the car has been resprayed the original of
cranberry colour and the only damage appears to be a broken driver's side
brake light cover. It has original mags, a factory sun roof, real maple
birds eye inserts and the interior is immaculate. The engine is the 2.8 V 6
which is a much improved version of the former Bertone series V-6 of the
late 70's early 80's.

They start it up occasionally because a car alarm installation resulted in a
dead short so the battery drains. The AC does work but requires a recharge.
It is probably an R-12 system so a conversion may be required except if you
drove it to Tijuana where they can do R-12 work while you visit a taco
stand. The family is looking to get $5000 for this car and prefer that it
goes to a Volvohead rather than Craigslist. Bob can be reached at 403
327-3540.

Circulate the message to any good potential preserver.

Ciao, CA"
