Another older Volvo FS in Lethbridge , this time a 265!!! We'll be like Portland soon

Had to look twice at this one as I ASSumed it was a 240 except the headlights didn't make sense for a 79, had another look and noticed the 265 badging which makes if somewhat rare. Greg, didn't you look at a 265 in town awhile back??

Seller went all out on the details in the ad.

Yup! Pretty sure that's the same one! There's a blue sticker in the bottom right of the rear window that's a Diplomat delivery sticker. Looks to have the same peeling clear, and that's a GT air dam in the front which is the same. It's a very cool car with cool history. I just about bought it from the original owner after Craig and I got it going. He's a local psychiatrist who bought it from the factory new, drove it around in Finland for a while, and then had it delivered here. Has lots of pretty cool options. Very little rust. But the peeling paint is what killed it for me. Could have had it for under 1k I'm sure. So then this local VW/Volvo hoarder named Richard Bates bought it, and tried flipping it for something like $3500. Apparently someone took him up on it, as this is definitely a new owner. Very cool car.

^ Was thinking it had to be the car, not like you see a 265 on every corner.

Funny you mention Rick Bates, this winter we were doing a bathroom reno so the contractors took over 1/2 the garage and had the door open a lot. Rick was in town doing some work (Bates Drywall) and was driving by and saw the :cough: collection... Comes up and rings the door bell and starts chatting all things Volvo, was looking for a corner lamp for his car and figured like a good Volvo hoarder I might have one. Anyways, had a good chat and told him to check in here. Said he might as he was on years ago? Small Volvo world.

Hahahah! That sounds about right.

This is interesting. No Atacama, but 2007 and manual, and in the Hat. Very nice.

^^ Already showed it to the Boss who can't seem to see all of the inherent value in the low miles, stick and tasteful upgrades. For me it's more than enough to overlook the color combo.

Curious why the 4C needed to be done at such a low mileage?? Otherwise I agree, looks very clean and babied. =D> Can't say its a possibility, but I keep going back to the ad every day...

Ah, thanks for that Jordan, both good and bad to know...

For S&G's I went to iPd and plugged in everything the seller has listed for upgrades/replacement parts etc. I left out some of the smaller bits and still came up with ~ $5300 not including the HD coils and strut mounts as they don't seem to have the coils listed anymore and he didn't list the mounts with the 4C (although he likely did them). Add those items in and some other misc. stuff and it's $6K sitting on your garage floor, installation extra...

Not bad. No doubt the cars been looked after. My 4C's are leaking already at 130k. Good to know it can happen even earlier.

My question is, what do you think the car is worth upgrades aside. Seems to me the price isn't TOO bad, bit I was thinking it might be worth maybe 16k?

Seems like this may take off for a bit so I replied over at that the WWD Volvo's thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3097

Yeah, saw that earlier today, idiot used car lots!! Where to start, the price, listed in the 740 section but then as an 850 in the title. I am sure it would be a pleasurable buying experience dealing with EEC motors, worthy of it's own thread I'm sure. "older gentlemens pride and joy"... bwahahahahaha

That said it appears to be very nice, at least 10K overpriced, but very nice regardless.

In person, that 242 is beautiful. The guy that owned it told me that when he started the restoration (I think 5 years ago), he told them he wanted it done before he died (jokingly). Well they finished it this past spring. Just after he found out he only had a short time left (I can't remember what was wrong).

I don't think they're is anything original on the car, it's all new. It really is beautiful. Well. As beautiful as a 240 can be.

The ad is horrible.
