I need new all season tires for my 2006 xc90. Any recommendations ? I would absolutely consider lightly used.
Also still hunting for a good mechanic. I took it in for servicing recently and it was pronounced fine but its not doing great and I'm sure there is a transmission issue as it clunks sometimes when changing gears.

Those 45's would be kinda short for a XC90, look like they came off of a XC70? I think stock is 65 for an XC90?

I think I need 235 60 18. Apparently 65 is hard to get

If I can't find decent used I will buy new but not sure what brand? Every tire store recommends something different. Will
Basically any decent tire work well or is there actually a difference. Bearing in mind I'm a mom with 3 kids and a golden retriever so not a professional driver that would notice subtle things. Just trying to safely get from A to B

That sort of depends on budget and habits. For example, I run summer/winter tires on my cars (so I've got two sets for each) and don't bother with all season tires. I can feel the difference between the sets. I've had good luck with many different brands and tend to go searching for reviews on either Tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com. I will then either buy online or local.

What is the stock tire brand on the car? How did it wear? Did it meet your expectations for wear?

Discount Tire Direct has 17 different 235/65/18 tires from $113 to $232 (US) so they're out there. DTD will ship free to a US address and claim to ship free to Canada as well but add a significant (border crossing) surcharge to cover duty etc.

Tire Trends in Langley shows 30 different tires in that size although some are strictly winter tires. Prices are a bit higher but are in Cdn$. They do charge for shipping and GST but there are no border fees...

How about these?

I used google advanced search on swedespeed.com and got quite a few hits for XC90 tires if you want to do some reading to help you decide.

https://www.google.ca/search?q=xc90+tir ... -QOTg4G4Cw

Like Craig said, I usually got to Tirerack or Discount Tire look up my size and read the reviews to get an idea of what I want. I have the luxury of being able to buy online and have them shipped to Sweet Grass, MT combined with a tire guy that will install them locally. Some tire shops won't install tires bought elsewhere so you should check that out before online shopping and having them shipped. Also as Craig noted I run dedicated summer/winter tires as well on separate rims and highly recommend it over all seasons.
