The job of the subframe is to control axle torque, and that's it's only job.

Building a single one is probably much easier using tube mild steel, but for a mass produced piece I have to say I like his design.

Honestly, a properly reinforced stock piece is probably more than strong enough, and if you build adjustable rose-jointed torque rods, you'll probably be plenty happy.

That contraption only controls TORQUE  Good heaven's that's just about the craziest way you could come up with for that use.

I've done fabrication full time, and fitting one part into another and assuming they are going to do the job takes a long time. Tube would be the way to go in any event (either one of, or many). The simple truth is that with 4130 you have to do a lot of cleaning to make the welds work correctly...I wouldn't want to have to weld prep all that area.

I've seen the pages on the reinforced factory set-up and would agree with Matt that they would work with a little stiffening. I'm sure there are lots of photo's on TBrix if them bent. Let's start there...the poor mans substitute for finite element analysis.

I think Ben does it that way because it looks crazy and there are enough people with pockets deep enough to make it worth his effort. I doubt he's doing it that way because it's easier...
