Mount Royal Kantorei brings perennial choral favourite Carmina Burana to the stage of the Jack Singer Concert Hall on March 27. Composed in the 1930s by Carl Orff and based on medieval Latin and German texts, Carmina Burana's themes of love, wealth, gambling and gluttony are as relevant today as they were then. Guest artists Leon Leontaridis, Janet Youngdahl, Gregory Brookes, five percussionists and the Bergmann Piano Duo join Kantorei to perform this choral favourite. Kantorei will also premiere the work by Canadian composer Imant Raminsh, commissioned to commemorate the choir's 15th anniversary.

Carmina Burana - A Kantorei Celebration
Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.
Jack Singer Concert Hall
EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts
Tickets: $15
Available at: http://www.kantorei.ca, from Kantorei members, through MRU Ticket Line (403) 440-7770,
or at the door.

In case you didn't know, my wife Beth has been involved with this choir for 15 years now. She and my sons Ben and Tyler are singing in this performance. If you know nothing about choral performances, this is the one to see, Search Carmina Burana and give it a listen. You'll recognize many of the sections from movies, commercials, hockey games and who knows what else.

I have a number of tickets available, if you wish to attend.

Hi Dale,

You can put aside 2 tickets for me.

This is an amazing piece of work. For those who go, it's more fun if you take a look at a translation of the text in advance. http://www.classical.net/music/comp.lst/works/orff-cb/carmlyr.php

We might be able to hang onto a ticket for that long. Not sure as we need to turn unused tickets in so they can be sold at the door. They are not assigned seats so you could always buy one at the door. I doubt they will sell out Jack Singer...
