This is the car I was trying to buy before the 740 came along. It's a 92 960 sedan. Really pretty amazing shape. Timing belt is about 10k past due and the Nivomats are a touch soft but other than that it's a pretty nice car. Runs great. Engine sounds nicer than our wagon. Not a spot of rust anywhere. Driver's seat is a little worn. Cost me all of $300 and I got $100 worth of spare parts and fluids with it  . I think it's easily a $2500 car. Working out a plan that may or may not involve some horse trading, but two cars will be sold. The Versa, most certainly, and one of the 960s. Hopefully I can sell one of the 960s for enough to cover the cost of the 740 and the cost of a few repairs to both.

sounds like it might be time for an intervention boys. Beth hasn't killed him yet.

If the 740 will be your DD, pull the body kit off it, paint and put it on the wagon- hawt.

Thanks Andy. There are a number of them around. There is an M47 at PnP right now and that's the most tempting at this point....

Dang...so much for Stage 0. Was putting in new brake pads, front and rear. The rears went fine. The passenger front had a seized slider and it snapped off in the bracket when I tried to get it loose. Wilwoods on the front... #-o

Was that the Kijiji ad saying "used on Deerfoot every day, needs timing belt, etc?"

Athal came over last night and we did some head-scratching. As near as we can figure, the waste gate is stuck...slightly open. This doesn't allow it to build boost very quickly and also doesn't allow it to make as much boost as it should. The turbo seems to be ok although it was a little warm so sticking the fingers in the inlet to check for shaft play was a pretty painful experience. It spins ok and doesn't seem to hit the housing. We'll assume it's ok at this point. On to the transmission...

It's official...the engine and transmission are done...kaput. I don't see the point of wasting my $75 in tailshaft bushing, gaskets and filter kit on this transmission. I think the bands are gone. I've been beating on it a bit and the knock in the engine is louder than it was so that's done too. Athal to the rescue with a nice Frankenstein B23ET and AW7something transmission. Here's the kicker...I'm going on holidays next weekend and want to take this car. I have a week to do the swap and have a day or two of driving to make sure everything is working properly...

Alex...if you're reading this, we need to set up a time when I can stop by and grab Athal's transmission. I have your number and will give you a call today...
