Well...the new m/c came today so the brakes are bled and it's sitting on its wheels for the first time in a long time. I actually backed it out of the garage under its own power :D

If I can track down the parts I need, tomorrow it'll get the tru-trac and a new pinion seal as well as a new rear u-joint...

The seats are cleaned and ready to go in. After that it's just getting stuff done that could actually wait...rear seatbelts, headliner, door, trunk and windshield seals...that kind of stuff...

Well...tonight was probably the most productive night yet on the 122...

We thought we had a bad u-joint so I was prepared to swap all the u-joints while Matt swapped in the Tru-trac. Turns out the u-joints were just fine. It was 1st gear in the tranny that was toast

So...at 7:30 we drove it into the garage under its own power. At 10 o'clock, we backed it back out of the garage under its own power... 8)

Tomorrow the seats go in and I get all the lights working properly. Friday I might take a night off and Saturday we do some on-road tuning... :D

Sorry Chris...but your tranny was bad. However, I did use the flange...

Well...she took her inaugural flight last night. Just up the street, u-turn and back home, but at least I got to shift a couple of gears. Everything looks and feels good so far. Need to get some mirrors mounted and a couple of bulbs working as well as a quickie alignment and it's ready for some serious tuning...

Shoot - I meant to tell you not to bolt down the steering wheel just yet. We've got to align the wheels & center the steering wheel by moving it on the splines. Hope you didn't tighten 'er down yet.

Steering wheel isn't tight yet...and yes...it's about 90 degrees off. Kinda strange as I thought we had it closer than that to on-center...

Still trying to decide which wheel I want to run too...

Probably was, but the only toe adjustment on that car is in that tie-bar, so when you toe the wheels in the steering wheel must turn to the right to keep the car going straight. That tie-bar is still loose, don't forget, so hopefully it wasn't loosening off as you were driving it (which is why I cautioned you against driving it in the first place...) unless you snugged it up first.

Good to hear it shifts, tho - you going to try to run to Mopac & pick up a shifter any time soon?

Just wondering if you did a compression test on it Dale? I'm interested to know what you did to the engine to prep it.

The prep work to the engine? I washed all that ugly oil off it and changed the oil. That's it. It seemed to be running fairly well in your 142 so I felt it was better to let it be for now. I idles smoothly so I think compression is fairly even. I think the noise we were hearing that night at the track was actually a bad pilot bearing and not the water pump. I changed the waterpump anyways but the pilot bearing was seized...

It's running...running well might be a stretch right now. Hopefully a couple of hours of driving tomorrow morning will help a bunch with the tune. Need to dilute that oily gas in the tank too...

Well...it's running nicely now. Tuning isn't complete but we'll look after that on the road Friday using the wideband. Seems to be getting good mileage too. A bunch of running around, including 2 hours of tuning Sunday morning and it's still showing over 3/4 tank.

Pushed it a bit yesterday. It does like to go around corners as long as they're smooth. Throw a bump in and it gets a little squirrely. I managed to get the tirs to squeek a bit coming left off Ogden Road from the south on to Millican RD (by the ball diamonds) at about 60km/h. As I went over the traffic grooves it bounced and squawked a bit. Coming home from Canadian tire, the ramp from northbound Deerfoot to eastbound Glenmore went at about 100km/h. No hint of slippage although the dip at the apex made me grip the wheel a bit tighter.

120km/h (or I'm assuming at the rate I was passing traffic) is a nice lope... I now have a GPS unit talking to my PDA so I'll have speed GPS verified for the trip...
