I'm starting this thread for finalizing the details...

We leave early Friday morning. I'd like to leave as early as 6AM but might be able to live with 7. 6 is preferable for reasons discussed below...

A pit stop in Golden for gas and possibly breakfast and then a push to Kamloops for lunch. We'll pick up "lammy" or Benson as he's more commonly known to his family, in Salmon Arm. In Kamloops we'll have a late lunch and pick up Martin and possibly James. I'm kinda hoping the narceleptic guy forgets we're coming...

Next stop will be John's place in Ft Langley where we'll hook up with some of the US guys before pirating a ferry over to Leivon's in Maple Ridge for pizza, beverages and a dip in the pool. Most will be staying at Leivon's for the night. Matt (?) and I will be heading back over to John's place. We'll discuss Saturday plans when we get there.

Now...about the first leg. There is major construction between Castle Junction and Lake Louise and again around the twisties before Golden. Could (will) be some delays. I'm thinking that we head south at Castle Junction and take the 93 to Radium and them back up the 95 to Golden. It's about 90km longer but is probably quicker. I've never driven the Radium to Golden road but I've driven the 93 3 times each way in the last 3 weeks and it can be a fun drive in the right vehicle and it's a beautiful road. Like I said, it'll add about 90km to the trip so $$ in gas (maybe $10 or $12) and hopefully some of us will make it to Golden on a tank..

Next thing is accommodations at Hat Creek Ranch after the drive. I've got 2 cabins booked with room for 6 in each. A number have said they're in. It'll work out to about $20/night/person unless we fill them. With Viktor/Jen not making it, we've got room for 2 more in a cabin. I know of one other person/vehicle that might be making the trip so that'll likely help out. Either way, I wouldn't mind gettin' paid for the half I've already put down as a deposit as there is a $250 charge sitting on a Visa card right now...make it $20 per person per night and we'll work out the exact number when we get there...

Good work Dale
Put me down for an extra bed at the cabin (that is 2 total), I think my son is coming, if not I will have a passenger who will use the bed.

Info on the construction

Paving 26 km west of Golden 12:01 am to 11:59 pm through Aug 4. 20 minute delays expected during daylight hours. Single lane alternating traffic at night. There are construction speed zones ranging from 70 km/h to 50 km/h. Updated on Tue Jul 4 at 11:53 am. (ID# -2559)

Roadwork 10 km east of Golden through Sept 19, 2006. There will be intermittent 5 minute stoppages 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Expect up to 1 hour stoppages 7 days a week 7 pm to 8 pm, 10 pm to 2 am and 3 am to 6 am. For information call (250) 344-6080. Updated on Thu Jun 22 at 9:43 pm. (ID# -3013)

Construction with minor delays 2 km east of Salmon Arm 7:00 am to 5:30 pm Mon-Sat through Jul 31. Reduce speed due to grooved pavement. Updated on Sun Jun 4 at 10:25 pm. (ID# -1764)

Sounds like most of the construction is scheduled to be completed before our trip (I know, how often does construction stay on schedule)

The road from Radium to Golded is a great road, narrow & twisty, but if there is traffic it can be very slow

The biggest delays will be the construction east of Golden and east of Lake Louise, both of which can be by-passed by going through Radium...

Then, I'm better to catch you up in Kamploops.

I was just out in vancouver/washington. We left at 4am and that was a really good drive, so I put this out there that if you guys want to leave early i'm up for it. I am also up for grabbing a 531. I'll bring my tools, maybe have the sockets by then

Don't need tools...they're sitting in a pile on the floor of a marina repair shop...all 5 or 6 of them...

Every time we go there the guy complains about how much junk he has and then goes on to explain how much everything is worth. I don't think he understands why we just keep leaving...

I don't know why you wouldn't anyway, Steph - that drive down to Kamloops is a really nice one.

Well, I was planning to catch you up at Lake Louise, but if you're going to avoid it... And if you're leaving so early, I don't think it would be a smart move to take off at 1am from Hinton to catch you...

The drive between Tête Jaune Cache and Kamloops isn't that great. I wanted to do highway one in that direction at least once.

well, we'd be hitting lake louise somewhere around 9am I'd guess, so you'd have to leave hinton around 5am? Not that great, but a usual work morning for you no? Either that or camp out the night before like you were talking about. Hope you can meet us there, but look forward to meeting you wherever!

Depend of the time you're planning to pass there and if you plan to pass there. (not passing by Radium Hot Spring)

I'll already do 1100km by passing by Lake Louise rather than 900. Don't really feel like adding another 150km on the same day.

I often do 1000km in one day (which is about my limit), but I go at my speed, my schedule and I stop whenever wherever I need. Not the same thing when fallowing a group.

Anyway, if you want to do the detour, I'll just catch you at Golden. And if the schedule doesn't fit me, I'll catch you in Kamloops.
