And Dale, your car looks amazing! Did you end up waxing it quite a bit to get it to shine like that?

Greg

That is a result of 10+ hours spent with a power polisher and tub of polishing compound. Once the paint was shiny, I used a wax on it to bring up the shine. It turned out better than I expected...I'm going to "Ice" it before Vintage on the Prairies. It should positively gleam 8)

its an open source cheap alternative to a third party fuel/spark controller.

Basically its a "Do It Yourself" ECU.

Isn't there any performance ECU available on the market?

you'll have to register on turbobricks. there's a thread in the for sale section for chips for your car...

It's not that I wanted one! Don't give me such idea!

I was just wondering why people would bother to make their own ECU if there's already something on the market.

Money, honey. To purchase one is $1-4000, to build a Megasquirt is about $150.

Yeah, you can get a whole engine for that price, but to get a fuel injection system that will work on any engine and allow you to tune it to whatever specification you build that engine to, or to allow you to use as large or as many fuel injectors as you wish, is kind of expensive. And, it's NOT easy to get running right!

Ah, ok! That's if you want a customized one. The one that they sell on turbobrick is just a general one, better than stock, but not perfect for a customized setup, right?

The only thing that's "perfect" is programmable ems and several hours on a dyno. Mucho dinero.
