This is a question for someone who knows the technical information of a 240's rear shocks.

I need to know the stroke length, as well as the compressed and uncompressed length.
Also I would like to know what sort of valving is good for the beefier springs.

Thanks!

I found the info

11.5"-17.5" length
.5" x 1.5" upper mount
12mm x 1.875" lower mount

kinda.
So if i got a shock that used a 12.65-19.65 length with C370 / R480 valving would that work? or should I just look elsewhere?

The only reason why I want to see if this would work is because these shocks are 50 bucks each so.....
Other valving available:
Compression/Rebound
370 / 370
315/155
315/315
260/260
210/210

If anyone has info on weither or not this would work...
Thanks!
Andy

heh....again found more info....It seems as though good valving would be the 315/155 combo based on reading from turbobricks for the rear.
I just have to decide if the shock lengths would work

Compression of 315 and rebound of 155 is completely opposite of what you need. Nearly all performance shocks have higher rebound dampening. Not to mention that the added 2" of extended length is going to cause your SCP springs to fall right out.

Look on Dave Barton's site - he's got stock Bilstien stiffness numbers, plus Volvo R-sport and a revalved Bilstien numbers.

And I wouldn't do anything to the rear that isn't matched by something in the front... You've made no mention of anything for the front, but I think that's by omission rather than neglect.

i've got plans for the front but i'm just trying to figure out the details. I think I will get some 400 ish springs at 5x13, I could do 5x11 if I do the shortened struts, so I guess I will probably break down and get some bilstein sports.
I am going to put those 300lb/in 5x13s in the front and see where it sits. Just trial and error really.

I'm pretty sure it'll sit too high with those springs. From what I've been told, anything over about 250 lbs/in should be 10" or so. If you're going with the 400 lb/in springs, it won't hardly compress at all at rest.

Do yourself the favour and work out some calculations first. The front end of your car weighs about 1600 lbs, so about 700 lbs on each spring after you remove the unsprung weight (brakes, wheels, etc). A 400 lb/in spring will compress about 1 3/4" with that weight on there, which means a 13" spring will be 11.25" tall when compressed on the car. After you add the height of the coilover nuts and the upper perch, I don't think you'll be able to get the front end down far enough.
