Coronas are 14x5, I believe, same as GT wheels. Might be 5.5, I'm not sure. There's also a 14" multi-x, the 700 hubcap-style alloy, etc. 14" wheels are the least common for Volvo because they were only ever spec'd on 200s and early 700s. Many of them won't fit over 140 rear brakes (a fraction of an inch larger than 200-700-900 rears)

I'm sure (I hope) he meant 185. and 65 will be a bit undersized, 70 is the "proper" size. all things being equal, the 70's might be cheaper. handling will suck no matter what.

I'll be shopping for WR's with how little snow we get.

well i was thinking for a tire that i can TSD rally/winter autoX in...i will be running 195/60/14 for regular use

EDIT: should have mentioned that, these tires wouldn't be for daily use

but for racing, skinny and low profile seems to me to make sense to me, no?

ciao

On ice you want a very compliant skinny tire, but on gravel you need something with a stiff sidewall and skinny isn't as important. Gravel rallye tires have 1" thick sidewalls and aren't really skinny at all.

Edit - and 195/60-14 for daily winter use? What's wrong with a little sidewall and ground clearance? 185/70 or even a 185/75 is what I'd use for that car in the winter. Leave the low-pro for the summer.

I disagree,

in the thick and deep gravel at the Winter-X parking lot, the skinnier tires have always helped me. fatter tires like 195+ made me skid across things as opposed to digging in and turning.

And sidewall/ground clearance is great, Vik, you don't need low pro - just up the tirepressure a bit :)

it's what came on the GT rims when i bought the car...and they are pretty decent yoko winters...dont want to bother with another set for "daily" use yet

for a winter autoX where there isn't any snow i will be using whatever set of BFG's i have downstairs...i don't think i'll spring for a set of those gravel tires quite yet, but for the snow and ice on a TSD type deal...then i would like to have something better than what i have
