They're sitting at John's in Ft Langley. I was kinda hoping Athal might hook up with him this time around and bring them home...guess we'll see...

Copied from my post in the thread on T'Bricks

Here is the response from the people at Hat Creek Ranch...

Dear Dale:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding Saturday, August 5th, 2006. We would certainly love to have your group visit us for this day, and have plenty of room to park your vehicles here for the night, either in our parking lot or in a adjoining field that we use for overflow parking.

As far as camping goes, unfortunately our unique facilities such as the pithouse, Miners' Tents and teepees are already booked for a group of International Sea Cadets that is staying with us for this weekend. However, if your group has their own tents, we can accommodate you in our camping area. The rate for a tent site without electricity is $10.00 plus 7 % GST. We also have 4 cabins available - two cabins without private bathroom sleep 8 people per cabin, and 2 cabins with private bathroom sleep 6 people per cabin. That, unfortunately, only gives us accommodation for a total of 28 people in the cabins. The rest of the group would have to bring their own tents.

For your information, we have one of our special events taking place on August 5th. A group of trappers meets here at Hat Creek Ranch every year and sets up a few tents to relive the trappers' lifestyle for two days. It is a small group, but they are always happy to show people what they do and how they live over the course of the weekend - quite interesting! We are also currently in the planning stages to host a murder mystery in the afternoon of August 5th, followed by a BBQ dinner and our annual fundraising auction.

Of course, we will offer our usual guided tours of our 1860s Roadhouse and Native Interpretation Center, stagecoach rides, gold panning and archery, and our restaurant will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

I hope this information will help you for now, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!
We look forward to hearing from you!

So...after chatting with a few people, I've made the decision and have tentatively booked the 4 remaining cabins. Let me know which you would prefer; a bunk in a cabin or to tent. The cost for a tent will be $10 per night. The cost for a bunk in a cabin will be somewhere between $15 and $25 a night, depending on which cabin and how many are sharing that cabin.

I've also inquired as to the cost of the BBQ that will be happening that night as we will be needing to eat anyways. It would be far more convenient than trying to organize something on our own. I see they have a restaurant on site so breakfast the next morning might be taken care of as well. As far as spending a second day, I guess those of us who were planning it, need to discuss. There is always the possibility to move elsewhere (like the place John's uncle was looking into) the next day...

Sorry John and Luke. I appreciate your work and don't mean to derail your efforts but this seems like something that would work well and it's right on the route...and it's available...

So...here's the deal for those of you who aren't watching the thread on TurboBricks...

I've booked the 4 cabins for Saturday night, August 5th. 2 of the cabins have washrooms with showers and sleep 6 and come with bedding and towels. 2 of the cabins share washrooms and showers and sleep 8 and do not come with bedding or towels. The cost will work out to about $20 per person, regardless of which cabin you end up in. If we end up at less than full capacity, the cost will go up per person but I, for one, don't mind paying a little extra for a reasonable bed. Athal has already said that as well.

So far, one of the equipped cabins has myself, Athal and Matt (maybe Roberta?) booked so there are beds for a couple (maybe 3) more people. The catch is...There is a bedroom with a queen sized bed, a double futon and two single bunks. Someone will have to get cozy with someone they're comfortable with (other than your wife/girlfriend, unless they're coming along) if we're going to run full capacity in the cabins...

I've laid down some ground rules in a post on T'Bricks. Suffice it to say if I'm booking and paying, my name is on everything. Irresponsibility, inconsideration for our neighbors or hosts, or stupidity won't be an option. At least one of the cabins will be a quiet zone for those of us who are used to waking up at 5AM and need to get to sleep at a reasonable hour.

I'm thinking that one of the cabins could house us older guys...Ian, Matt (Roberta), Athal, Brad(?), myself...

Another of the cabins could house the younger guys...Viktor (Jen), Ricky, Geoff, Leivon...

Who else is coming and what sleeping arrangements? Speak up folks!
