Here we go again folks - Dale's wicked find of a 123GT in the PYP has resulted in more fancy parts for my car. Here's the start point:

Some of the cracks...

More cracks.

Developed cracks.

All filled with epoxy.

Ready for paint

Three coats of DCC Concept Urethane later...Oh and I polished the spokes.

Painted centre.

After all that...taking a nap with the new puppy "Jetta"

Once we get that horn button made up, you'll have all sorts of people wanting their steering wheels restored... :D

Very nice work, as usual...

Damn...that looks even nicer with the tape removed. Those spokes are sweet.

Just the way I wanted it to look - very smooth and shiney.

Thanks for the complements guys...now to get the CAD stuff done over the holidays and get the horn button built. It won't be making it into the car until spring.

What's the button to look like? I have a 123 GT wheel with a cracked horn button. Apparently most do crack.

I've got the plans in to Dale's machinist...but no joy yet on that job yet. I suspect he's got other work and there isn't any rush to get this wheel done as I've got the wooden one that I built to run in the 122. Dale may be marketing my design at some point. Mine has a custom logo, but Dale will most likely do the design that is the same as the GT wheel, but out of 6061.

silly question -- how the heck do you remove the horn button on the GT wheels? does it just pull off?

There's a release from the back side. Don't pull it...you'll break it.
