This.

Looks like the bastard love child of a Chevy SSR and a New Beetle...

Whoa, harsh, fellas. I was walking thru Mall when I saw this car that had the front and part of the back covered by standing signs. What struck me was the slope of the roof and it looked so close to a PV544 that I had to go look. Of course it was a 2nd gen Beetle. I remembered how so many people made custom front ends for the old original beetle such as a 37 Ford, 40 Ford and the really awful RollsRoyce front. I airbrushed this one up in less than an hour just for kicks and threw it out there. Wasn't going for a replica. It is not meant to be a pro job or I would have spent a lot more time on it, incorporating more photo pieces etc. I just thought some of you might get a kick out of it. Guess I was wrong. Too serious, fellas. (Woodenshoes: an SSR, 52 Chevy and 544 don't even have close to same front end. 122 is closer to SSR. :) )
How about some of you do a pic but has to be under an hours work. Challenge!

It's OK Keith - they didn't mean it that way. I'd also say that they didn't know you did the work, so don't be offended. I was sort of intrigued when I first saw it and thought, why would Volvo do something like that - it doesn't fit with their corporate positioning. When you explained that you were thinking about maybe a kit/pipe dream, then it's cool.

If I was doing it, I would make sure the hood had the panel detail in the centre. I can't photoshop for the life of me - so it's a neat thought experiment.

What Craig said, sorry Keith had no idea you created that. I honestly thought you just found it somewhere and posted it as a joke. Point taken on the model lineage comment, got my chevys with 3 letters mixed up, meant to type HHR not SSR. I also couldn't p'shop something to save my life, so props to you for giving it a go.

Actually fellas, if you look up Ceemo retro PV544 on youtube, you can see what Volvo was thinking of doing before they sold out to Ford. Their's is more closely designed to original 544 tho, I wanted to see what you could play with with the VW but not make it look like a replica, hence the smaller grill and left VW grill and headlights and barely modified rear fenders but it was fun. Might even play around a little more yet. Maybe try just almalgamating some original PV parts on the new VW. Heck the new Volvos are front drive or AWD anyway.
( I tried loading video to page but it was taking forever and this page reverted to original anyway so you'll have to look it up.)
