after being inspired by a turbobricks thread i thought i would try making my own swichblade key with the key to my 740.
Turbobricks thread:
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthrea ... t=flip+keyso i went on Flea-Bay and bought a key for a 2003 2004 or a 2005 S40

next I went to Canadian Tire and got an extra spare key cut.

so when my key arrived by mail after about a week i used a very tiny finishing nail and removed the pin that held the key in to the "flip part". after removing the key i traced the outline of the Volvo key on the one that i got cut for my car at Canadian tire. I then used a hack saw to cut the rough out line of the key then i finished it with a Dremel tool.

after creating a groove for the pin that holds the key in to the remote part i put it all together and tried it out in my car. IT WORKS!! eventually if i get the motivation im going to try and switch out the guts of the remote with a remote for my alarm so i can use the buttons on the remote with my alarm.

its not hard and also at the same not easy. it takes TONS of patients and hand eye co-ordination but its a pretty cool finished product. if there is interest i wouldn't mind making some of these for people if we can agree on a price.
