I'm just wondering what everyone thinks of these 16" Borbet rims:

Image

Like 'em ? Hate 'em ? Ho-hum ?

They fit an 850 or S70 so I'd need spacers to use them on my 940 or 240. I own them now and I don't know what to do with 'em since I already own a set of these 16" rims for the 940T and I want to use 15" rims for winter wheels.

8) Are these what are known as Hydras ?

Hmmm... I've got a rear end and a set of front hubs from a '72 1800E which I could put into my 1800 and convert it to 5 x 108mm bolt pattern. Then I could use those Borbet rims on the 1800. Might look pretty sharp on an 1800 with a set of low profile tires. Or I could sell the Borbet rims and put the money toward some Minilite copies which will fit the stock 5 x 112 mm bolt pattern on my 1800. Hmmm.... What to do, what to do...

i duno, ive never really been a fan of 3 spoke rims, IMHO its really hard to pull it off on most cars. It always reminds me of this movie i watched quite a few years ago that had a bunch of funky cars at a car show and one of them had triangle wheels and moved really awkwardly.

Lots of people hate 3 spoke wheels, not sure why... I've always liked them, to me they are the ones that 'reveal most' of the stuff behind the wheels, and to me thats kind of nifty. I like em.

I am afraid I am not a fan of 3 spoke. Some look OK in smaller diameters.
Take it for what it is worth, just my opinion

3 spoke wheels are not the most desireable, I would prefer Hydras with anthracite powdercoating and no center caps personally. Although they are a little skinny at 6.5" width.
My 215 50/16 kumho 712's on Hydras still drift about on uneven surfaces. I think 16 x 7.5 wheels with 225 50/16 tires would still clear the fender wells with 1" spacers and be much less wonkie.

Well, I got 'em for only $45 USD for the entire set of 4 and sold 'em a couple weeks later for $305. :D .

Almost made enough off of 'em to cover the cost of my Hydras.
