Dudes,

I know someone who's gonna be selling a '94 850 T (sedan) real soon. It's got 275,000 kms on it, it's maroon with a dark grey leather interior. Automatic. Comes with 4 new snows on steel rims and a well used set of summer tires on mags. Has a rear wing/spoiler. I just saw it today from the outside and it looks to be in pretty nice shape. No body issues and the interior looks real nice too from what I could see through the tinted windows. Apparently, it runs real well and there are no big mechanical issues with it. Don't know what kind of money they want for it - they weren't quite sure yet either.

Anyone who might be interested should let me know and I'll give you the phone number for the people selling it.

As you were,

Roj

I just ran into the wife of the guy who's going to be selling the car and she tells me he's just had it in the shop to get a few minor things done on it and get it cleaned up and ready for sale. Also I guess they wanted to get an idea as to what it's worth.

I asked but she still doesn't know what they'll be asking for it. She was thinking maybe somewhre in around 3 - 4K$ but wasn't exactly sure what they'd be asking for it.

If anyone's interested in the car they can call the owner at 295-3611.

I have seen the car just once from the outside and it looks as though it's in pretty decent shape and has been well looked after. Might be worth taking a look at if anyone's remotely interested in an 850T.

Call them and ask them to e-mail some pix to you or go see it. The car's in University Heights quite close to the Stadium Shopping Centre on 16th Ave NW where the Keg is.

I barely know the people selling the car. Actually, I've only met the wife a couple times and haven't met the husband yet. Saw the car once or twice maybe and just from the outside. Looks ok from the outside and might be a good deal. That's all I can say.

I don't know how many 850 Turbos there are out there but based on what I've seen driving around the city, there aren't too many of them. 99% of the 850s I've seen have either been plain old 850s or GLTs. I don't think I've seen more than a handful of 850 Turbos in all these years since 850s came on the scene. That, of course, doesn't mean that they're rare, I just haven't seen or noticed many of them myself. Usually I notice if they're GLTs or Turbos, etc.

So if you'd really like to have a chance to get a potentially nice 850 T then I'd suggest giving them a call real soon and see what happens. Otherwise, ya snooze, ya lose.

Good luck with it. Tell me how it turns out.

Roj

well i haven't seen the car yet, but i called them and the bad news is that it needs a complete engine tear down...or a new engine.

That's funny, Jeanette said the car ran well and they never had that many problems with it...

I'm kinda wondering if maybe their mechanic isn't trying to rip them off. He might be telling them that the engine's shit so they'll sell it to him super cheap and then he'll turn around and sell it at a big profit.

I say, go check it out and take it for a spin. Maybe the car is actually ok and you can get the car for next to nothing and screw their crooked mechanic in the process. Ya never know, it's worth taking the time to go look at it no matter what.

Ya man, those engines take a beating before they need anything.

Anyways, my dad has a T5 sitting at his place that he'd hook you up for for cheap probably.

But really, they would have to over heat it to the extreme, or not change oil for 30K km for it to run like crap.

I say the mechanic is trying to get it out of them for cheap and make his own profit.

If it does need a tear down, I can get you the stuff you need at work for a good )employee) price....
