Lucky i was a block from home, hit the highbeams to get the attention of a buddy in front of me, car dies. no lights on dash, no starter click, nothing. fiddle with the key and signal stalk for a few seconds, dash lights come on, off we go.

Pull into garage, hit highbeams again to test, car dies. Now I can't get it to start again. if i turn the headlights on, they turn on, but can't switch off the highbeams. interior light works. NOTHING else works.

wtf? this is the 242 by the way, otherwise running great, when running....

I can only say to look for strange wiring, like a previous owner stole power from the main fuse box to go to the lights for an inspection dealie? who knows...

Did the highbeams work before the Lh2.2 swap? One of the headlight wiring harnesses in my car was completely melted together (can't remeber which motor that was at the time)... I found that out when trying to hook it back together and ended up with alot of smoke! I'm wondering if stuff got melted together somewhere in the harness causing some funky issues. I'm not sure what else to think? That seems messed.

I think I'd go the make your own headlight wiring route, hopefully you can get the car running again!

Don't think I checked the highbeams before, i only drove the car from where i bought it to grandmas, then from there to my garage before pulling it apart.

I unplugged the harness at the relay on the fender and everything went back to normal. Going to dig into it later, but i'm good for now.

And got my spanky 17" wheel fixed- shot peening for teh win!
