Well gang its been a crazy couple of months getting the volvo ready for the rally season, but we made it to the nationals down in Clairsholm - WOW what a rush. the worst conditions anyone has ever seen. Mud, raind, snow, fog, mud, and more mud. We were the heros of the rally - showing up with motormaster tires, no service crew, and for spare parts we had a door that Cris had thrown in the back of my truck a few nights before! While most teams had welding set ups, full tents, trailers, 12 sets of wheels, the subaru team even had a car wash. The first stage was great - no problems, the second satge we rolled off an enbankment at 120km/hr - ended upside down against a tree - 2 trucks pulled us up right - the beast fired on its first turn over and only had 2 small dents. While the 2 suzuki team vehicles rolled in the same place and were a right off!! The tv crews loved us!!! the third stage we passed the porsche 911 - with an 8 year vet driving! Then the beast had enough - she would not start - at the refueling station - we even had the marshals pushing us trying to bomb start it - even though it was breaking all the rules - then they even allowed us to try towing it to bomb start it - but nothing!! So sad. Either way, it was a rush and we loved that car!!! I will post links to the site for pics and times once they are up. I have a lot of work to do before the next race. Mostly with the fuel system (k-jet) - to make it reliable - so i hope to pick some of your brains to make sure that it will start every time. Power is not a problem - we hit 152km/hr on the muddiest road!!

Anyways, the volvo was a hit!!

Damn...I'll bet you could put together a pretty good tech crew from the local crowd :P

Sounds like a blast. Good to hear things went as well as they did.

When's the next one?

Well the next stage rally is in November - but there are a few small races before then.

The goal is to tune the k jet and get the ignition and fuel system to be solid under lots of heat and pressure, and replace the u joint in the steering assembly - lots and lots of play, and get the poly bushings in, and maybe even shorten the shifting or linkage.....

first of all the damn thing will not start - not bomb started not kicked punched or screamed at. Oh where to start......
