Gotcha. Cool. Hmmmm. I'll have to see. Maybe I'll have to come up there on Friday or something.

Well, after several rounds of phone tag with the owner this week, I finally was able to get ahold of him last night. He wasn't interested in email, so it took way too long to connect. The truck sounded perfect. If things checked out, I was hoping to get up there this weekend to pick it up, but then it sold last night. I'm really really really bummed out. I wish I could have talked to him earlier.

So on we go. Fortunately this is still fun most of the time. Finally here's the GTI I've been looking for!

Only if you can drive the smurf in and out of the back, a la Kight Rider style.

Totally. That needs to happen. I'll have to dig up some old PC's to mount in the back of the RV too....to interface with the computers in the Smurf. YouknowKjetandstuff.

Seriously, or I could get this.....damn the auto's but still....its clean and has Collectors plates.

If this was closer by, it would be a done deal. There's so much to be had in Portland. And Eric at RSI told me he'd ship me a car if I found something good.

I really want AWD, but sometimes the 240 still calls to me.

Well, still nothing has panned out, so the search continues. Not a 700 series fan, but this did catch my eye. Thoughts?

That's pretty nice, and a 90+ turbo with a manual? Pretty uncommon...

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. I've emailed the owner. Apparently the turbo is original, but the oil changes were done every 5000k. Had a talk with Laura last night, and with the state of things in our house with debt from our renos, we're both thinking I should go with something cheaper like this for now, especially since I'm not finding much else I like. I'm not super keen on a 700, but really, its a wagon, its a turbo, its a manual, and its rear wheel drive. I think I'd put a proper stereo in it, maybe a cam, bump the boost a bit and be done. Asssuming everything else is okay...

Tried to nail this car down as quick as I could, but it is now sold. Crap.

How about a Subaru Outback? I've got a colleague that's changing cars. I can ask if he's selling or trading.
