What do we have for small steering wheel options on these cars?

Adapters are available. I'm running an R-Sport 3-spoke (Momo) wheel on mine...

Where from? My brief searches show them available in sweden....

One thing that sketches me out is the impaling steering column too... Any quick fixes for that?

Used to be a few on eBay. I don't see any there at the moment though.

The later '67 and after used a breakaway steering column.

Nice progress - I have an injured arm, and can't work on mine right-now.

Now I'm going to - ahem - jack this thread for a sec if I can: What's with these steering-wheel adapters? I have a steering wheel from a '68/69/70 that won't fit on my '67. I briefly looked it up on the Net, and they don't seem to have any splines...?

Sorry-about that Erik (Eric?).

it's Erik, but even my family seems to mess it up all the time...

started on the other side today, taking the slightly different approach to it. Seems to be going much smoother this side, but the random little pocks of rust sure make the welding a bit goobery in places. it was cold enough too today i took a plastic ball peen hammer and knocked off a lot of the undercoating around this area, it will get replaced with truck bed liner.

Darn-it, I just typed all this once, then lost it.

Lookinng-good Erik.

I'm please to read that you are planning on using the t-b liner. I'd still use the rust-converter, then a good primer, so-as to make sure you have good adhesion to the metal.

As far as stickability is concerned, I was pleased to see that on the rubber hose from the gas-tank to the filler-spout, which was also covered with the t-b liner, pushing in and out on the rubber, the liner also flexes. I was quite surprised, actually, now it is just a question of how long that lasts.

Also, when you come to do the spraying, the two parts have to be mixed very, very well, or the product comes-out all lumpy, and can clog your gun. Mine wasn't mixed well-enough, even though I did it for longer than recommeded - albiet only with a stick. I bought two kits (Gater Guard truck-bed liner), and it was still not quite enough to do the entire undercarriage, including the wheel-wells, rear axle and all of the trailing-arm bits.

Also also, it was very awkward to spray underneath the car with the shootz-gun, as I couldn't tilt the can back far enough to spray straight-up, cause then the product doesn't come out. I had the car up maybe a foot and a half on blocks, but another foot would have been very helpful. Plus, you will need good lighting under there.

All the best.

Thanks Art,

I'm going to chip as much of the old undercoating off as i can as the first step, treat all the internal panels with the 3m internal anti-rust sealant, that stuff sticks like snot, it's great.

Then the outside will get washed down with solvent, sprayed with rust converter, covered in a high-build epoxy primer, and then the bedliner.

i've gotta finish up the sheet metal work first. hah.

I'm gonna go slice up a mustang for the tranny tunnel when i get a free day.

And i'm probably going to move the pedal box about 2-3" to the left, both for clearance for my fat feet, and clearance for an intake mani from the master cylinder and clutch cylinder.

i'm prolly gonna cheap out and oxy-braze an intake for the time being, i've gotta make this thing run!

I forget if you have a master cylinder worked out. This is the setup I'll be using...

thanks Dale!

i'm gonna wait on the master cylinder until i can size everything out and make sure it'll work well.

now, no updates on the actual car (I did pick up the hardware for the tranny adapter though, and will probably set it up fairly soon)

but i was out junkyarding today, and spotted one of those intrepid racks with the engine pulled, was helping a bud so i didn't have any tools of my own there to yank it, BUT to get an idea for fitment/etc...

Looks like it would work fairly well, and you'd be able to dial in the geometry decently.

Now, was also considering the poor geometry my alternator will have mounted way off on the side of the head..

so was looking for an oem-ish solution, and found this on a sorta-old monaco.

also, finally pulled off the infrared barn lights from the rust-primer'd back panel, looks okay, glad it's hidden by the rear valence panel.

have a mount roughed-out now, just gotta make the belts square up, weld on the back-half and then build the tensioner.

using an 85A (i think) bmw alt.
