Yes, thanks for hosting Bridge folks, nice to see y'all, especially this late in the season!
Just over 10L/100km round trip. Not too shabby considering the speed Kat, Ian and I drove home at, though with the strong tail wind, and gentle drive on the way down I'd expect better. Half a tank of high octane ethanol probably didn't help either. Aero improvements for next year...
Speaking of restraint Matt, there are a few V8's on car-part.com, although they start around $4000. Considering how many hours and dollars you put into your last V8, that doesn't seem so bad though...

I'd expect you to get better mileage too, Athal. I scored a 10.5/100km on the round trip in the 780 - surprised the hell out of me! We kept it between 100 and 120 for the whole trip both ways, though.

Speaking of mileage - Craig, Dale mentioned how he forgot to tell you about the gas gauge in that 242, and how it'll drop like a stone from half tank. "He'd better not expect to make it to Vulcan when the gas gauge reads half" is about what he said to me when we were rolling up to his house. He'll probably remember to tell you at some point, but we were on the subject just now...

Well...my speedo is off a bit, I know. 4% according to the road markers, but when I was leading on the way home my speedo said ~127 and Kat and Ian said I was doing 140. We did a few kms a fair bit fast than that too.
Google maps says round trip is ~450km, which is pretty much what I got.

Pfft, mine's only 0.39 or so. Frontal area might be a bit smaller too, but whatevs. Drag is still linear to frontal area and Cd, but to the square of speed.

0.39 is at least 10% better than me! Plus my torque peak is about 1000rpm above cruising rpm.
Either way, that ~50kph tail wind helped on the way home!

I just accept the fact that I get shitty gas mileage

Don't mention it. I guess I am fortunate that I only got the one!

Who DIDN'T get one besides Dale? That might be a shorter list.

Edit - I'll give you a hint: Ian filled up in Vulcan, and took on more gas than I did when I got back to my own neighborhood.

I didn't get any stars on my drive. I haven't done my mileage though.

That's what that road is famous for - heavy truck traffic and lots of broken windshields. Got the first 2 really good ones on the beetle after Vulcan (one had me ducking into the passenger seat at 110 KPH).

So the gas gauge is a little generous at the top - my 122 is like that as well. It's only the beetle that lulls you to sleep over fill-ups and I won't share the km/100L.

Bought the first part for the 242...a 20 cent M4 screw for the sun roof - let the mods begin.

No stars here either, but that is because I still have the crack that I got from the cruise 2 years ago.

Gas mileage, my usual 18 USMPG ... but who cares, I had lots of fun
... just thinking, next cruise I will lead, then everyone behind me will be sucking in the unburned gas and that should increase their fuel economy ... all I ask for is a small contribution from those benefiting

Or we could do a little bump drafting... works at Daytona. Would save on windshield repairs too, if we keep close enough that the rocks can't come up between the cars!

Thanks everyone for coming!
I was stoked to see everyone, and to give a tour of my garage. Sorry to hear about all the wrecked windshields, but it was rad that you all made the trip. Indeed, next cruise I'm thinking Coburn and I will be there.

Sounds like fun! Sorry I missed it. Bit far from Lloydminster. On the road again...
