Congratulations!
Now....do you get the prize money, or does the photographer?

(Interesting that a couple RWD cars made it into the IPD FWD slideshow...)

Bring a few gallons to the dyno day. You ARE coming right? I see your car just about every time I'm at Magnum- stop breaking stuff!

Andy, one of the guys there really liked how you blacked out your car, even if it ain't pretty up close

I have to black out the bottom 4" of the car since the rock chips are brutal after every race. I go through a can of rocker panel spray every rally.

Regiel tuning does all our dyno work - they tune everything for me as well. They have an old german guy who is a god with K-jet. I just changed a few things on the air intake, exhuast and turbo - as well i want it tuned with the race fuel.

I will try my best to come to the Dyno day if the trany is back in, and its back from Regiel tuning. I would really like to see everyones cars - its lonley surounded by subarus all the time!

Yes!! You gotta love the old German guys who know everything about older European cars. They rule. I'd love to hear what this guy is doing to tune stuff...special tricks. Very curious. And yes, lets see some dyno readouts....and please post the race fuel ones as well when you get 'em.

Magnum Automotive is the very nice and skilled mechanics (MJ and Uzzi) that sponsors us. They built my LSD dif and are doing all my trany work. Great guys, a few other members use them as well. They are located by the city impound lot off Macleod trail. My car seems to sit there for long periods of time while we figure out how to do the next upgrade. Then Regiel does all my tuning on their dyno - they are also building the SDS standalone system in December - so i can rid my self of the K-jet.

Can you explain to me how you got them to sponsor you? I'd LOVE to do what you're doing.

Oh, and your 50 dollars should go towards... uh.. can't find anything good for 50 dollars.

lol

I am sure that would be an interesting story :D
Congratulation Houston, well deserved.

Raz, unfortunately to obtain sponsorship you usually have to "prove" you are a competitive driver. Usually finishing near the top for several years before any company will risk any investment.

The company has to get something out of it, this means good exposure (re: advertising) to the clientèle they are marketing to, in the volume they perceive is value added, and representing the company in manner they deem appropriate. Sponsorship dollars are rare and very hard to "pry" out of their hands, especially in the rally world where TV exposure is very limited and the audience is usually small here in North America

We raced the first season on our own, with no money except from my wallet. Then we started to get a name for Sea of Green, since we had a classic car, and rolled it off a cliff at 120km/hr but flipped it on its wheels and kept going. Plus once the bugs were worked out we were beating 400hsp sti's with a 25 year old rear wheel drive 190hsp car with no locking dif. A few articles were written about us, some good exposure. This year we put togther a race resume with a sponsorship package and handed them out to a bunch of companies and we had some interest. Mostly parts at cost and free labour. We hope to finish top novice in our class, and even top novice overall. We already have enough points this season in order to be bumped up from regional to national standings and from novice to pro - next year. Then we can do all the rallies in north america and start going after bigger sponsors...but we are considering moving into an AWD car next year as well. We might start a Rally team and keep the Volvo and find another driver and navigator. Oh the dreams of a young lad!!
