So...I knew there was a 122 going out in the yard this past week because it was sitting in the holding yard when I was out there last Monday. What I didn't know, and few will be able to tell now, is that it's a '67 123GT! If it's not, someone went to great lengths to replicate one. It had the correct dash with the molded tray. It had the correct aluminum 3-spoke steering wheel. It's got an overdrive in it with the correct indicator light above the ignition switch. It had the correct tach. The only thing missing when I got to it this morning were the seats. I've just spent the last few hours pulling the dash, the driveshafts and a ton of little bits and pieces that will come in handy as spares or upgrades on my car. I also got a set of 28/19mm IPD swaybars out of it that will end up in Craig's car eventually. Once I get the cars emptied out (I made 2 trips...), I'll take pictures...

All in all very likely the best $200 I've spent on 122 parts...

So here is a bird's eye view of the parts I got today...

Image

The tach, steering wheel, tight wiper mechanism, newish heater contoller...

Image

Nice looking speedo cluster...the paint on the trim is peeling. That's pretty easy to take care of. Shows 98,000 miles...

Image

Some swaybars, a knee pad, a newish looking fuel level sender, a console, a nice looking cowl cover and one of 3 trunklid handles...

Image

One of the indicators of a 123GT is this tray on the dash. It's molded right into the dash pad...

Image

A pair of N.O.S. headlight buckets...

Image

And one of these things. I need to look in my 122 accessories catalogue to see if it's a genuine accessoty...

Image

It looks like it snaps into something...wonder where?

Image

I did well...if I do say so myself... :P

Great score  ...did it have the stalk switch for the OD as well? That centre console is great, if you don't need it I'm interested in it as well. The wheel looks fine, just have to find a horn push. I'll be calling IPD on Monday about the sway bits to level out my car.
Thanks again for the dibbs on the bars etc.

I still can't believe your luck - what a great find.

I think that grey bin is for the trunk.

but the real question is: Did you carry it all in one load? :P

Nice find! It's good to see a Volvo nut got all the good parts first for once!

The center console won't do me any good once I get the short, remote shifter in. Looking in my accessories catalogue, I see nothing of that storage thingy. However, the console is there so it could be a genuine Volvo accessory... :D

And no stalk switch for the o/d although there was a hole broken in the housing where it would normally be... ](*,)

Nope. In fact about 1/2 of the little pieces came out in that grey bin and the cardboard box to the right. Matt and I got two boxes of little stuff, the console and the rear swaybar for $35 this morning...with no tools

I went back with tools and got the rest...

Damn PYP...I had to pay my $1 the second time too...I forgot to get stamped...

Good score dale! I remember days like that, but not with a 120 so much as a 140.

Should get the project going again.

I don't see any window winders, door exit handles, door lock knobs, window trim, etc?

That centre console is a stock part, seen them before. I think they were used on 140's as well. The accessory switch space looks like it would be a great place to mount my seat heater switches. Too bad about the OD switch - they are worth a mint!

Well, it's 7:30 am on Sunday - I should get out to the garage.

Dale - did you mention that there were bumpers in the car?? I'm still looking for a front that I can chop apart to fill in the license indent. To do this I need the ends of that bumper. If you're going out, snag the front bumper for me. Condition is not all that important.

There are at least 4 bumpers with that car. None are straight. Could certainly grab one though...

And Matt...I didn't grab the door handles and window cranks. Maybe next weekend...
