As many know, I want a 122 wagon to go with the Canuck and have to sell off my Jaguar project to have this entire thing come to life. Now that we have 2 dogs (and the puppy keeps getting bigger!!) I can argue for a wagon and not have to base my lunacy on just wanting one (never thought there could be alternate reasons to have pets). I spotted the following link on Turbobricks - this is what I've been thinking about for the past couple of months. Check out the 20 valve bundle of joy in this 1800ES, not a 122 but they are physically the same. B5254T FTW! I've been through the white block swap pages and there is a lot of stuff to resolve - but the execution in this dude's swap is eye popping.

Let's not get crazy now...but an easy 225 hp seemed like a good idea to me. I hear you can wring almost 300 out of the 5 cyl with a performance chip.

Keep in mind a 122 is likely close to 500 pounds lighter than your car. That makes up for a lot of HP...

Kat, you've got the B5234FT or one of it's derivitaves, which is the 2.3 litre low compression high boost turbo engine. It's got a smaller bore than the B5254T for thicker cylinder walls and more toughness. The B5254T is a low boost high compression turbo motor: it doesn't have the same potential as you do, and it runs lots less boost than yours does stock. I think your car runs 0.7 Bar boost stock, and that one runs 0.4 Bar stock.

Craig, I might have a few bits you'd be interested in...

Back to the 1800... Damn, that's a clean install!

I'm all ears...and either the 2.3 or 2.5 would suit me just fine. I agree the 2.3 has more potential, but at some point I have to consider what I can actually find. I've seen the B5234T on E-Bay for under $500 without the harness. Maybe I should just forget about my misadventures into B20 land

Ooooooo....this is sounding mighty interesting!

I was shocked the whiteblock would fit into an 1800, but then I realized I really didn't know anything about the dimensions of said engine. How does it compare size-wise to the redblock? And how does the size of the 122 engine bay compare to the 1800, besides being not as tall?

That ES is sick.

The engine bays are around the same dimensions...remember the 1800 is basically a rebodied 122. If I needed more room, the radiator core support could be moved forward 6" very easily. I suspect I'll have to massage the metal on the exhaust side to accomodate the turbo. I could also make use of the area in the front fender well - the wheel clearance is rather generous and if I needed to I could rework the inner fender.
