OK, so here is the deal, I have a 85 244dl, and I was installing a new deck in it last night, got it all wired up and installed, started my car, and I got this really bad high pitched skrecking sound. That maybe it was like feedback from the antena or something. So I disconnected the clip on the back of the deck and undid the antena, still did it, more when the car is running then when it is off, but it is not doing it all the time, sorta when I move all the wires around in behind there, sometimes it will last really long and sometimes really short, and sometimes it just happens by it self....if that made any sense.. and it is NOT coming from the speakers, it is coming from somewhere in behind, in the center of the dash?? Anyone have any ideas, maybe I shorted a relay on accident

Thanks in advance,

Reuben

How could I determine for sure if it is the heater motor, just disconect it for a minute, and see if the noise happens, how hard is it to get to it, what all needs to be done...if it is the motor, would it even work at all still?? Cause it still works, it still blows air. thanks for your advice.

Ok, so I went out there to have another look at it, I had the battery disconected, I took the fuse out for the heater fan, started the car, (no noise yet) I turned the nob for how much air you want the fan to blow, and the noise started, so I turn the car off, (still making the noise), I disconected the positive cable on the battery again, and the noise was still there,(so logically speaking it should not have anything to do with electrical) and then after about 15 seconds, it went away, sorta decreasing in volume as it went away, it almost sounds like a air line of some sort with a small leak?? Would that make any sense at all??

Thanks again,
Reuben

Yup, probably a leak in your HVAC lines. Makes sense if you were messing with the stereo. Pull the centre console and look behind the hvac controls, you will see a bunch of vacuum lines. One may be disconnected or loose. Try and do it when the car is running and see if you can track down the source. Might be one of the hoses that goes to the floor vent actuators above the driver and passenger knees too.

Thanks, it was one of the lines that came off, it was on the one that went to the floor vents, thanks a bunch.
