It is fun when your car gets to the point you can start playing with the details rather than the major components.

My current engine catch can is made from the AC Receiver, which works well just not the most attractive

So I am thinking on how to improve the looks when I come across a nicely sized stainless steel container

Then you come across a piston that you have been saving for "something special". Chuck it up on the lathe and turn the skirt down just a little

So at this point you have these bits

... and they even fit together

I have some work left on it, fabricating the hoses, interior baffles & lines, complete polish, ...

What do you think?

What's wrong with the AC bottle? I like it.

I'm sure I'm not seeing the whole picture, but I'm sure you've got something in mind for the new one. I just don't see it yet. The pin bosses are obviously going to be for the hoses to the valve covers, but how are you going to vent it? Obviously you'll drill through the crown, but what are you going to do about the oil return holes to seal them off, so that you can duct the vent back to the intake or to the header or wherever you've got it going now?

If you need some "help", let me know.

My plan was to "T" the engine vent hoses and have a single line in through one of the pin bosses (like you mention). Inside a line will go about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way down, on top of this will be some stainless steel wool to help cool and condense things. Then the outlet will be from the other pin boss which is above the stainless wool.

The oil holes will be sealed from the inside.

Sound good???
