In my family we have an old tradition that our parents give us 3 times our age in dollars for our birthday. Now that I'm getting close to 50 it's starting to amount to serious coin. Typically, I just take that money into general revenue and then spend it on whatever I typically spend on like groceries and whatnot.

Today I was in Costco and decided that this year I'm actually going to put that money towards a real gift. So this is what I bought myself. Costco Canada doesn't have this item listed on their website so this link will take you to the manufacturers U.S. website.

http://www.chpower.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 646_10692_

The Costco Canada price on this item is $200. Note all the extras that it comes with:

Includes air tool bonus kit with 1/2 inch impact wrench, spray gun, 2-in-1 nailer and stapler, air hammer with bits, tire inflator with gauge, blow gun kit, 25 foot hose, coupler and plugs.

Seems like not a bad deal for what you get. Hopefully it's reasonable quality stuff and will last a while.

Anybody have a Campbell Hausfeld compressor and/or air tools ? Any good ?

Turning 50, and I thought I was old, I don't turn 50 until March

The unit you are looking at will work good for the air nailer, it will supply enough air for the impact under normal use (although it could run low and you will have to wait for it to catch up on really tough bolts), and it will be almost useless for use with the spray gun. All in all CH products are not bad, I have one of their compressors

For home use they are great, just don't use the air nailer to hold your winter tires on

Yup, 8 gallons is not quite enough to do much. Nailers etc sure, painting - no way. I've got a 30 gallon tank and it runs pretty much all the time when I'm painting. It keeps up - but I'm replacing it in the spring with something with a 60 gallon tank.

Oh, and happy birthday.
